I Only Wanted Luxury Shopping, and Accidentally Saved the Whole Family Chapter 04

“You certainly know how to make an entrance, Mr. Locke,” Veronica said, her eyes ice-cold as she stared at the man walking in.

Asher Locke, the international financial predator, wore a tailored silver-gray suit and gold-rimmed glasses, a refined, gentle smile playing on his lips—a classic devil in disguise.

He held a thick Manila envelope in his hand, followed by four burly bodyguards who blocked the entrance, casting a heavy shadow over the foyer.

The air in the living room instantly grew thin.

Ignoring Veronica’s sarcasm, Asher walked straight into the center of the room.

His gaze swept across the plush Persian rug and the fine art on the walls before finally settling on Conrad.

“You’re not looking too well, Mr. Kensington,” Asher said softly, sounding like a friend genuinely concerned for an old acquaintance. “At your age, you really should take better care of your health.”

Conrad gripped the armrests of his chair so tightly his knuckles turned white.

“Let’s not play games, Mr. Locke,” Conrad rasped. “What exactly do you want?”

Asher smiled and sat down on the main couch—the seat that belonged to Conrad. Crossing his legs, his posture was languid and arrogant.

He placed the envelope onto the coffee table with slow, deliberate movements and pushed it toward Conrad.

“Mr. Kensington, the Kensington Group’s cash flow is completely tapped out,” Asher said, adjusting his glasses. “Your three overseas acquisition projects have hit a full stop. The daily liquidated damages alone are astronomical.”

Veronica stepped forward, blocking Conrad behind her. “That’s internal Kensington business. Not something an outsider needs to worry about.”

Asher tilted his head slightly to look at Veronica, a touch of pity in his eyes. “Mrs. Kensington, your title as the Wall Street M&A Queen is certainly impressive.”

He clapped his hands softly. “Unfortunately, against real power, individual ability means nothing.”

His long fingers tapped the Manila envelope. “I have an agreement here. If Mr. Kensington signs it and hands over the chairman’s seal, I’ll immediately inject thirty billion dollars to pull the company out of this crisis.”

Sloane let out a cold laugh. “Thirty billion to swallow the entire Kensington Group? You’ve got quite an appetite, Mr. Locke.”

Asher didn’t get angry. He kept that same hair-raising, gentle smile.

“You’re mistaken. The Kensington Group’s market value is evaporating every day. Three more days, and it’s worthless.”

He leaned forward, locking eyes with Conrad. “Mr. Kensington, I’m not negotiating with you. I’m giving you an ultimatum.”
