My father’s voice was quiet, but to the man it was directed at, it landed like thunder.

The man visibly shuddered.

“Mr. Ashford, we’ll open a full investigation into Riverton. We won’t allow organized crime or violent

intimidation to take root here.”

When he noticed me looking at Sienna, he immediately understood.

“Detain her.”

Several people stepped forward at once to restrain Sienna.

Sienna quickly hid behind Harold. “What do you think you’re doing? I’m Sienna Prescott. I’m a Prescott.”

She never expected what Harold would do next.

Harold simply stepped aside, exposing her completely. “I came here today to discipline my disgraceful daughter and to announce, in person, that I am cutting all ties with her.”

“Sienna Prescott has behaved recklessly and lawlessly. Please investigate her thoroughly and handle this

according to the law.’

Sienna’s brother panicked. “Dad, Sienna…”

“Shut up. She brought this on herself.”

Sienna froze, her face turning white.

Now she understood.

The truth was, the moment she hid behind Harold, she had already understood.

She recognized the people who had stepped out of those Audis too, and she knew she had picked the wrong

fight. She knew she could not afford to cross me.

Now her father was sacrificing her to save himself.

The second Sienna came back to her senses, she dropped to her knees and crawled toward me.

“I was wrong. I know I was wrong.”

I looked at her. “Sienna, I want to ask you one question.”

“Ask one, ten, a hundred. I’ll answer anything.”

“Just one.”

I stared at her. “If I had been an ordinary woman with no background, what would have happened to me today?”

“Would I have been able to protect the baby I’m carrying?”

“If I had taken those pills, would you have let me go?”

“From the very beginning, you deliberately came after me because you wanted to humiliate me.’

“You wouldn’t even let me leave with the clothes on my back. After I gave in, you still wanted me to abort

my child.”

“You and I both know that even if I had truly lost this baby, you still would have kept tormenting me.”

“No, no, that’s not true.” Sienna spoke in a rush. “I really didn’t think that. I…”

She slapped herself over and over. “I know nothing I say matters now. I was wrong. I really was wrong.”

“You think one flimsy apology can erase what you did to me?”

“And besides, what you think doesn’t matter. What matters is what I think.”

“I believe you wouldn’t have let me go even after I lost the baby. That’s enough.”

Sienna understood what I meant. Her face went deathly pale as she turned to Harold.

“Dad, save me.”

Harold’s expression was cold. “I don’t have a vicious daughter like you.

Desperate now, Sienna began slamming her forehead against the floor in front of me.

“My family has existed for more than a thousand years, and we have always been old-fashioned about

marriage.”

“We have zero tolerance for adultery.”

“Under the old family code, someone like her would have been dragged to the lake.

As soon as I finished speaking, several people stepped forward and dragged Sienna out.

“No… no…” Sienna screamed.

Her screams grew farther and farther away.

Sienna’s brother kept his head lowered, tears sliding down his face.

Harold, however, his expression barely changed. He stepped forward and looked at my father.

“Mr. Ashford, this was all because I failed to raise my daughter properly. Although I have severed ties with

Sienna, I know I still bear responsibility for what happened.”

“I am willing to compensate Miss Ashford generously.”

“Compensate?” My father looked at Harold.

“My family has survived for generations because we follow one rule above all others.”

“We do not make enemies lightly.”

“But when we do, we make sure they never grow back.”
