Caught Him Cheating—A Week to Make Him Bitterly Regret It Chapter 05

A moment later, the whole world lurched and spun around me.

When I opened my eyes again, I was standing in a hospital room.

Lucas, who I had just run over and left bloody and broken, was now sitting up in bed surrounded by doctors.

It had only been a few minutes since I last saw him, but it felt like two lifetimes.

“Faith? Faith, what’s wrong?”

Lucas’s voice snapped me back to the present.

I looked up. The Lucas lying in the hospital bed was covered in bandages. His face was pale.

I glanced at his leg, propped up on a pillow, and smiled to myself.

Guess getting hit by a car was just his fate.

He reached out his hand and looked at me with a pained expression. “Faith, I only have you now.”

Only me?

That was rich.

His girlfriend had run off with his money, and now he had only me.

Back when he started his company, he made it clear to everyone that he would build everything for Stella. He didn’t think about me then.

Now that Stella was gone, he had only me.

What a joke.

In the previous timeline, I had a mission to complete, so I let his words slide. But now I didn’t have to pretend anymore.

Who falls for the same man twice?

When I didn’t respond, he kept talking. “Faith, all my money is gone. My company is about to go under. And I have no one to take care of me. Can you please help me?”

I widened my eyes and looked at him in fake shock. “Oh my God, Lucas. Who would do such a thing?”

“Did you call the police? Stealing company funds is a crime. You should call them right now. Maybe you can still get the money back.”

He dropped his head. His voice came out rough. “It was Stella. But it’s okay. Maybe she had her reasons. Maybe she’ll come back when she regrets it.”

It’s okay? Seriously?

So he never thought Stella was wrong.

I looked at him. “So you’re not going to call the police.”

He was quiet for a moment. Then he shook his head. “No. Forget it.”

I shrugged. “It’s your money. If you don’t care, then I guess it’s fine.”

He lowered his head again and didn’t speak.

Then he looked up, his eyes soft. “Faith, Stella is in the past. Right now, I just want to heal my leg and get my company back on track.”

“So will you help me? Will you stay with me through this?”

In the previous timeline, after he said those words, I pulled out three hundred thousand dollars and handed it to him. Then I stayed by his side while he recovered.

Later, we got together without really talking about it. Until he proposed.

To be honest, the first few years of our relationship were pretty good. I was happy.

I actually thought I had gotten lucky. I completed the mission and found someone I loved.

Turns out, I wasn’t that lucky.
