Caught Him Cheating—A Week to Make Him Bitterly Regret It Chapter 01

I was bound to a System and sent to a strange world to carry out redemption missions.

In short, my job was to help a protagonist destined for a tragic ending live a happy life instead.

My mission target was Lucas Fairchild.

After completing my redemption mission, I chose to stay in this world.

I married Lucas Fairchild.

But six years later, he cheated on me with his ex, the same woman who had abandoned him when he needed her most.

The moment I found out, I activated the Interface. “I want to leave this world.”

The Interface replied, “Okay. The host will automatically disconnect in seven days.”

“Seven days?” I said. “Too long.”

I will make Lucas regret his choice for the rest of his life.

So in the next breath, I hit the gas and plowed right into him.

I don’t know if I was just stupid or if I just trusted Lucas far too much.

I didn’t realize they were back together until I saw Stella Haven’s post.

The photo showed a man cooking in the kitchen, his back to the camera.

Her caption read: [Thank you for always having my back.]

I recognized the back immediately, it was Lucas.

He was wearing that exact outfit just two days earlier.

I had a cold that day and asked him to pick up some medicine on his way home. He said he had to work late and told me to get it myself.

As for cooking? He hadn’t cooked for me in a long time.

I looked out the window, trying to suppress the ache tightening in my chest.

But it didn’t work.

I curled up on the couch, my heart feeling like someone was twisting it with their bare hands, like countless needles piercing through it all at once, leaving it bloody and torn.

I didn’t sleep all night. The next morning, with swollen, red eyes, I activated the Interface. ” I want to leave.”

It said, “Okay. You’ll automatically disconnect in seven days.”

I had come to this world because of the Interface.

This world was part of a novel. The story followed Lucas, a poor young man who went through every kind of hardship, fought his way up, and eventually built his own business empire.

But before Lucas could succeed, he needed a series of supporting characters. And I was the one the Interface pulled from the real world to redeem him.

In the early stages, he was so weak he almost died. He desperately needed an angel-like figure to save him.

And I was the chosen one.

Back in the real world, I was young and rich, but I was also terminally ill, beyond any medical help.

When the Interface appeared and told me that as long as I succeeded in redeeming the male lead, I could return to the real world with a healthy body, I agreed before it even finished talking.

I had no choice. I wanted to live too much.

When I first found him, he had just been hit by a car. His knees were shattered.

And while he lay in the hospital, his girlfriend Stella Haven ran off with his company’s emergency fund of three hundred thousand dollars, along with his CFO.

She even took the ten thousand dollars the driver’s insurance paid him.

Lucas was on the verge of collapse. When he tried to take his own life, I showed up with three hundred thousand dollars and saved his company.

Later, I stayed with him in the hospital, took care of him, encouraged him, helped him through rehab.

After about eight months, his company was back on track, and he could walk again.

He got down on one knee and proposed. I said yes.

To be honest, Lucas was six feet tall, good looking, fair skinned, with a cool, refined presence. I didn’t think being with him was a bad deal.

After we got married, my mission was complete. The Interface said I could go back to the real world.

But by then, looking at Lucas, so gentle and handsome, I got lost in the fantasy. I refused to leave.

I thought spending my life with someone I loved here had to be better than living out my days alone in the real world.

But reality turned out to be cruel.

That experience taught me a lesson: you really can’t judge by appearances alone.

Once a man gets rich, loyalty doesn’t always last. And worst of all, it was with the very person who had betrayed him.

I regretted it, more than I could ever put into words.
