Caught Him Cheating—A Week to Make Him Bitterly Regret It Chapter 06

Looking at Lucas’s hopeful expression, I laughed softly. “But I don’t want to.”

His face froze. He clearly hadn’t expected me to say no.

I looked at him. “Lucas, you just said Stella might come back. When she does, you’ll have someone to take

care of you.”

“And besides, what would I even be to you?”

He dropped his head again and went quiet.

Sure enough. Whenever a question was hard to answer, he just played dumb.

He didn’t initiate. He didn’t respond. But he wanted everything.

Just as I turned to leave, he called out to me urgently. “Faith, don’t go.”

“Stella and I broke up.”

“If you’re willing, I could…”

I cut him off. “I’m not willing.”

“Lucas, when things get hard, don’t just look for someone to lean on.”

“Right now, you should be figuring out how to get through this, not sitting here asking me the same questions over and over.”

“But Faith, please. Help me. I really can’t do this on my own. You don’t know how much my leg hurts.”

“I don’t have a cent to my name right now. Forget the company, I can barely survive. Sometimes I feel like

I’d rather be dead. If you won’t help me, I might as well just die.

He gripped the bedsheets tightly, tears streaming down his face. His skin was pale as paper.

“I really can’t go on without you.”

I looked at him with disgust and thought, Then go ahead and die.

But I didn’t say it out loud. I just turned and walked away.

The Interface said, “Wow, Host. Is he playing the pity card? Is this the start of the groveling stage? I’ll go get

the popcorn.

I rolled my eyes.

“Reading novels again, aren’t you?”

Lucas checked out of the hospital the same day I left. He couldn’t afford to stay.

I finally started enjoying my life.

Back in the real world, I was sick all the time and spent most of my days in a hospital. Now I spent my days reading, painting, practicing calligraphy, cooking, and learning new skills.

Lucas, on the other hand, wasn’t doing so well.

I saw him again on the street outside his former company building. He was running a small street cart.

In the previous timeline, he was a CEO by then.

In this timeline, he was a street vendor.

Oh, and a limping street vendor.

Looks like without me there to help him with rehab, his leg was permanently damaged.

I watched from a distance as he limped around, being overly deferential to customers. I felt a strange kind of

satisfaction.

Just as I was about to leave, a young woman with a gentle face walked up to him carrying an insulated

thermos. She wiped the sweat off his forehead.

The Interface said, “That’s his wife in this lifetime. She had polio as a child, so she moves a bit slowly and

has occasional tremors.”

“They get along pretty well. She didn’t ask for a formal wedding, and she let him use her house to start the

business.”

cording to the plot, with her help, he will succeed. Not as big as last time, but still pretty well off.”

hed the woman smiling brightly from a distance. “I can’t believe it. He’s like this, and some woman wants to marry him and struggle alongside him.”

The Interface said, “Well, this is a male-centered story. The male lead gets help from all kinds of women. But if he cheats again after succeeding, that’s on him.”

Just then, Lucas spotted me. He limped over.

There was hatred in his eyes. “Faith, you have the nerve to show your face in front of me? You ruined my life, you bitch.”
