He Took Me For Weak And Helpless Chapter 14

He Took Me For Weak And Helpless Chapter 14

Adrian’s hand froze in midair, blocked firmly by Ethan Shaw.

“Sir, if you try to force your way any closer, I’m calling the police right now.”

Adrian looked up, violence burning in his bloodshot eyes. “Who the hell do you think you are to stand in my

way?”

“I’m her boyfriend,” Ethan said evenly. “And I’m the only one with any right to protect her.”

“She carries my mark. She’s my wife. And you think you can replace me?”

With a sudden burst of force, he shoved Ethan aside and grabbed Summer by the wrist.

“Adrian, let go of me!” Summer struggled hard against him. “You’re hurting me!”

“Hurt?” Adrian’s chest tightened, but he still refused to let go. “When you made things official with another man, did you ever stop to think how much that hurt me? Summer, you can only belong to me.”

Ethan immediately stepped forward and yanked Adrian’s hand away, pulling Summer back behind him. “Get a grip. She’s terrified of you right now.”

“I know I was wrong,” Adrian said, his voice unsteady for the first time. “I was a bastard. Lola lied to me, and I

hurt you…”

His voice trembled slightly. For the first time, he let go of all his pride and force, and there was open pleading in his eyes. “Summer, I know I was wrong. Just give me one more chance, okay? I’ll keep Lola locked away forever. I’ll never force you again. I’ll change everything. Just come home with me, and we’ll start over.”

Leaning into Ethan’s arms, her eyes rimmed red, Summer shook her head. “It’s too late, Adrian. The day you hurt me was the day I died. The Summer standing here now has nothing to do with you.”

“I looked for you until I was losing my mind. I’ve been living in regret every single day. I exposed every lie, punished everyone who hurt you, and crossed half the world to find you, and now you’re telling me we have nothing to do with each other?”

He pointed toward the villa beside them. “That house was given to you by my grandfather. Everything in your blood and everything hidden in your heart has long since been filled with me. You think you’re going to live a quiet life here with this man? Dream on.”

Seeing that Adrian was spiraling, Ethan immediately started guiding Summer toward the villa. “Summer, go

inside. I’ll handle this.”

“You’re not going anywhere.” Adrian lunged forward and grabbed Summer again. “You’re coming with me

today.”

“Adrian!” Summer whipped around, and at last her tears spilled over. “What do you want from me? I just want

to live in peace. I don’t want to see you ever again. Let me go, and let yourself go too!”

Her tears hit him like needles driven straight into his heart.

The one thing Adrian could never stand was seeing her cry.

And yet everything that made her cry had been caused by him.

He went still, his fingers trembling faintly.

Ethan seized the opening, grabbed Summer, and pulled her quickly back into the villa. Then he slammed the

front door shut and locked it.

Adrian snapped out of it and rushed forward, pounding on the door with all his strength. Blow after blow slammed into the wood, and the wound on the back of his hand split open again, blood seeping out.

“Summer, open the door!”

“Stop hiding from me!”

“I’m not leaving. I’ll stay right here until you agree to see me!”

Summer collapsed against the door, her whole body weak, tears falling without end.

Ethan wrapped his arms around her gently and patted her back again and again. “Don’t be afraid. I’m here. He can’t get in, and I won’t let him hurt you again.”

Buried against Ethan’s chest, Summer’s voice broke. “I thought I finally got out… I thought I could really start

over…”

“You can,” Ethan said softly. “I’ll stay with you. I’ll protect you.”

Outside, the pounding on the door slowly stopped.

Adrian leaned against the cold wood, listening to the sounds of the two of them holding each other on the other side, and the pain in his chest spread without mercy.

He lifted his eyes to the black night sky, and obsession burned back to life inside them.

He wasn’t leaving.

He wasn’t letting go

And he was never going to let her be with another man.
