The Last Item on My Alpha’s List Chapter 05

POV: Damon Voss

I was listening to Mira present a project, but my wolf was growling restlessly in my chest.

Maybe she could tell I wasn’t all there, Mira cleared her throat.

“Damon, are you still thinking about Astra?”

I gave a dry response.

“Had I really misjudged her?”

“All this time, she treated Voss Pack Holdings like her own home. She was always so dedicated. She’d never

sell Pack trade secrets to a rival PackCorp.”

The image of Astra’s hurt face was like a thorn lodged in my heart.

Maybe I imagined it, but a flicker of guilt seemed to cross Mira’s eyes.

She gave a bitter laugh.

“I never thought she’d turn out like this either.”

“Astra probably hates my guts. She thinks I stole her spot.”

Her eyes went red. A pang of sympathy hit me, and I immediately soothed her.

“It’s not your fault. You have your own career goals too.”

“Besides, Astra and I really were about to get married. After that, she’d be my Luna. Staying at the pack house

would be easier for her.”

Astra’s smile had been a little stiff.

Just then, a group of Pack enforcers knocked on the Alpha office door.

“Excuse me, someone reported a case of corporate theft here.”

Mira’s breathing hitched, and she rushed over.

“We’ve already taken care of that.”

The lead enforcer explained.

Astra Lane filed a report. She’s claiming she was framed-and that someone made an unauthorized

withdrawal from her private trust fund. Upwards of eight hundred thousand dollars.”

I frowned. “She called the cops?”

A strange feeling stirred inside me.

My wolf grew even more restless, pushing me to cooperate.

Seeing how insistent Mira was on sending them away, I hesitated for a second.

“Then please, go ahead and investigate.”

After some investigation, the enforcers looked at me with shifty eyes.

“Alpha Damon, the person who accessed the corporate archive and secretly contacted Webb Pack… it wasn’t

Astra Lane.”

“She was framed.”

I was stunned. I immediately pulled up the surveillance footage and scent logs.

The figure sneaking around the corporate archive was actually Mira.

The jasmine scent and access records all matched hers perfectly.

“It was you? How is that possible?”

Mira waved her hands frantically.

“Damon, it wasn’t me. I swear it wasn’t.”

But I could clearly see the panic in her eyes.

I stared at her in disbelief.

“How could you frame Astra?”

The Pack enforcers spoke up hesitantly.

“Alpha Damon, do we need to involve pack law enforcement in this?”

Before I could answer, Mira cut in.

“We’ll handle this ourselves. You all can leave now.”

I sighed and waved them off.

The moment the Alpha office door shut, Mira burst into tears and grabbed my hand.

“Damon, I just wanted a promotion so badly.”

“And you wouldn’t have really let Astra get investigated. You’d just scold her a bit. I didn’t mean to hurt her.”

Hearing that, my expression darkened instantly.

“Didn’t mean to hurt her?”

“You made her take the blame for betraying the pack and cost her $800,000. What more did you want to do?”

Mira bit her lip, looking full of remorse.

“Then let me apologize to Astra and pay her back.”

“Please forgive me.”

I took a deep breath, disgusted.

“That depends on whether Astra can forgive you.”

“But no matter what, you can’t stay at Voss Pack Holdings anymore. I’m so disappointed in you.”

I pulled up Astra’s number, ready to explain everything.

What answered me was the same robotic voice over and over.
