Luca’s eyes stayed fixed on our joined hands. Hearing me, he asked calmly, “What exactly are you doing?”

I answered irritably, “I’m scared you’ll get hurt.”

“I hate it when you guys get all violent and start fighting over nothing.”

I grabbed Luca’s bag and pulled him toward the exit under everyone’s stares.

I felt fantastic after preventing Luca and Elias from becoming enemies.

It was hot outside. I couldn’t wait to leave.

As I pushed my bike and was about to say goodbye, Luca swung his long leg over and sat on the back seat.

I frowned. “What are you doing?”

He said casually, “Give me a ride.”

Huh?

I looked at him in disbelief.

“Are you okay? Me giving you a ride?”

“Any problem with that?”

“Big problem! Do you know how heavy you are?!”

I glared at him. “If anything, you should be the one giving me a ride!”

He suddenly smiled. “Alright.”

That smile made my heart skip a beat.

How could one smile make him look both handsome and beautiful?

God clearly had favorites.

“Ivy, think about it. Instead of cleaning up the plot’s messes every day, why not make Luca fall for you?”

“As long as you keep the villain in check and stop him from becoming the male lead’s enemy, the female lead’s redemption arc will not be completely derailed.”

His voice drifted back to me on the wind. “No need to test me. I’m in a good mood, so you’re allowed to hold on.”

I bumped into his back without warning.

His body heat seeped through his clothes, almost burning my arms.

The bike rolled over patches of sunlight on the ground. The wind tangled my hair.

And sent my heartbeat into chaos.
