Taming the Stubborn Alpha: His Tears Were Fake, But His Love Was Real Chapter 11By Novel7s / May 8, 2026 Taming the Stubborn Alpha: His Tears Were Fake, But His Love Was Real Chapter 11Once the misunderstanding between us was fully cleared up, Evander went from cool wolf to clingy puppy. Wherever I went, he was right behind me. He even looked like he wanted to sit in my office with me while I worked. I chalked it all up to being a little too intense with the training earlier on. The root of his insecurity, in the end, was that five percent difference in match rating. So that weekend, I set up a meet with Caleb ahead of time. Figured he could help clear things up. Evander had work and only arrived later. The second he laid eyes on Caleb, his whole face went dark. It was like all the warmth just drained out of the room. He looked ready to freeze the entire place over. “Well, well. Look who decided to show up. Mr. Ninety–Five Percent.” His tone was rare, dripping with sarcasm. See? He really cared about this. Caleb raised a brow, suddenly looking interested. “Oh. Mr. Ninety Percent. Hello.” What? I nearly choked on my drink and looked at Caleb in disbelief. Wasn’t he supposed to be helping me clear things up? What the hell was he pulling? The comments exploded. [LMAO the male lead is so petty. That five percent really lives rent–free in his head.] [Bet he cries himself to sleep every night thinking about how he’s not her perfect match.] [Muffling his sobs into the pillow so she doesn’t hear.] I tried frantically signaling Caleb to get back on track, but he completely ignored me. “Ah, such a pity.” “If the Bureau hadn’t screwed up the data back then, the one married to Cressida right now would’ve been me.” “Thinking about it still stings a little, you know?” He raised his brows and looked at me. “So? Wanna consider me instead? I’ve been waiting for you, you know.” Suddenly, the fork in Evander’s hand broke clean in two. The sharp end was driven violently into the steak in front of him, as if it were Caleb’s face. “So what? She’s with me.” “And I will never give you the slightest opening, you two–faced little-” He pointed at Caleb, his usually composed expression now trembling with rage. Then he grabbed my wrist and dragged me out without giving me a chance to resist. Next thing I knew, we were standing on some street corner. The man beside me stood stiffly for a moment before suddenly bursting into tears. Still crying, he kept going, all breathless and hiccuping. “You brought me to see him! He provoked me and you just stood there!” “What is that supposed to mean?! Can’t you see what a fake, two–faced little–he is?!” “You’re trying to ruin me! Ruin this whole family!” “I’m gonna die…” Right there on a crowded street, he was full–on sobbing, not a single care about who was watching. I really couldn’t take it anymore. “Enough! That’s all you do. Cry all day like some spoiled brat.” “You’re gonna cry this whole family apart!” That shut him up. He froze, his lips trembling as he stared at me in disbelief. “You… you actually yelled at me. For him.” “So it’s true. All that ‘only you‘ stuff–just lies. I knew it.” “I’m old and ugly now. Fading looks, fading love. It’s my fault you’re slipping away…” No one warned me. If you break through a guy like that, this is what you get. A dramatic, whiny mess. I sighed, reached out, and pinched his mouth shut before he could start up again. “No change of heart. I only like you.” That shut down the spiral. He finally settled, so I let go. “I brought him here to clear things up. Once and for all.” “Ninety–five percent or not, I don’t like him. He doesn’t like me. There’s nothing there.” “So you don’t have to spend every day worrying. I’m not running off with anyone.” His lips were still slightly red as he blinked at me. “Really?” “Would I lie to you?” “But he was being so… you know… back there.” “Who knows what got into him today?” “He’s definitely just jealous!” he said firmly. “Look at us. All happy and together. Bet he can’t stand it.” Evander snorted and pulled me into his arms, pressing himself up against me like some overgrown cat demanding attention. “Even if his rating’s higher… you still only want me, right?” There it was. That little sliver of doubt. The question he’d been carrying in his heart all this time. I smiled and squeezed his face hard. “Yes. Only you.” “Highest match rating or not… I would’ve fallen for you first anyway.” My loving you? It never had anything to do with some number. It was simply because I wanted to. “I knew it! I knew I was the one and only in your heart!” He lowered his head and pressed his forehead against mine. “So… anything you wanna say to me now?” “Nope…” “Really?” “…Fine. I love you.” “Love you too.”
