I Came Back As A Zombie And They Wanted My Kidney Chapter 07

Seraphina collapsed on the floor, her perfectly made-up face twisted beyond recognition.

“He’s lying! The scam priest is lying!”

“He admitted he’s here for money! Why would you believe him?”

Harrison wasn’t listening.

He bent down, picked up the sheets of paper one by one, and read them carefully, line by line.

Accident reports. Driver’s statement. Bank transfers.

Every single document was officially stamped and verified.

The priest lit another cigarette.

“I wasn’t going to say anything. Get my money. Let Wren have thirty days. Then she’d meet her parents in the afterlife.”

“But you people? You made her donate a kidney. Yelled at her. Pulled her arm off.”

“And on top of that, you didn’t pay me.”

“So why should I keep your secrets?”

Dash snatched the documents from Dad’s hand and flipped straight to the last page. The transfer record was clear as day.

Sera’s private account.

[Payee: Clyde Vance.]

Same account. Another transfer.

[Payee: Leo Farley.]

[Police note: Farley, the driver.]

Dash’s hands shook.

He turned to Sera. “You… you killed her?”

Sera scrambled toward Eleanor.

“Mom! Mom, please! I didn’t!”

“you have to believe me! I didn’t do it! That priest is framing me! He’s getting revenge because he can’t get his money!”

Eleanor sat frozen, numb and hollow.

After a long moment, she turned to look at me, silent in the corner.

Her lips moved for a long time before a hoarse voice came out.

“Wren…” Her voice was broken. “Did it… did it hurt?”

I thought about it. For twenty seconds.

“Don’t remember. Just remember it was dark. Couldn’t breathe.”

“I yelled for a long time, but no one came. Then the pain stopped.”

Eleanor doubled over. Vomited.

Dash kicked over the chair in front of him so hard it scraped across the floor.

Harrison crushed the papers in his fist.

Sera kept screaming. “Her foster parents owed gambling debts! They got hit by accident!”

The priest pulled out the final sheet.

“Your biological father’s phone records. One hour before the crash, his last call was to you.”

“Call duration: nine minutes and twenty-three seconds. Wanna take a guess what you two talked about?”

I looked at her. My voice was quiet.

“That explains it.”

“First day I came here. When I saw you, the look on your face was so off. It wasn’t surprise. It was fear.”

“You thought you’d killed me.”

“And then I showed up again, alive.”

Dash grabbed Sera by the hair.

“We’re calling the cops. Dad, now!”
