The Luna Beyond His Reach Chapter 04

The Luna Beyond His Reach Chapter 04

Sienna causing chaos in the hospital was nothing new.

She’d break things, he’d fix them. To them, it was theater.

I’d tried to talk to him about it. He’d just give that tired, helpless smile. “She’s been like this her whole life. I just have to manage it.”

That was when I finally saw the truth. The healer the whole pack worshipped as a savior—he would push innocent patients aside just to cover for Sienna.

The pressure built in my chest. I stepped outside to clear my head.

In the garden of the branch hospital, Sienna was lounging on a bench, scrolling through her phone.

She spotted me and sauntered over. “Told you. I say jump, Theron jumps. Believe me now?”

I kept my voice cold. “Haven’t you done enough? Those patients are innocent. Do you have no limits?”

She sneered. “So what? They’re nobodies. Theron will fix it.”

I didn’t argue further.

She’d pay for her actions eventually. I’d already gathered all the evidence of her harming patients over the years. After I left, I’d send it to the authorities.

Theron wrapped up the hospital business, pulled strings to get Sienna off the hook, and then finally called me.

“Rhea, I’m done. I’m taking Sienna around Silvermoon tomorrow. Want to join?”

I said no. “I’ll pass.”

He sounded disappointed, but also relieved. “I’ll find you after.”

I hung up and went to the mall to buy gifts for a friend who’d just had a baby.

But I didn’t expect to run into Theron and Sienna there.

I frowned and was about to leave when I heard Sienna’s voice.

“Theron, would you rather have a boy or a girl?”

I froze. My head turned slowly.

Sienna was standing next to Theron, holding up a tiny silver bracelet.

His face was pale. He clamped a hand over her mouth, his voice a frantic whisper. “Don’t say that. Someone might hear.”

She peeled his hand away. “So what? She’s going to find out sooner or later.”

I felt like I’d been plunged into ice. All the blood in my veins turned to sludge.

So that was it. During the time she’d come to “apologize” and Theron had locked her away, they’d done this.

She’d poisoned herself with a fertility drug. She’d threatened to die if he left.

One pushing. One half-resisting.

He looked torn. “Don’t act rash… let me figure out how to tell her…”

I fled back to the hospital.

My eyes burned. I coughed up blood.

My stomach twisted with pain.

I knew the poison was eating away at my body.

But compared to the ache in my heart, none of it mattered.

I thought I’d stopped caring. But after all these years, it still hurt.

That evening, Theron came in, frowning. “You look awful. Are you okay?”

I kept it flat. “I’m fine. Probably just need my potion.”

He was about to go check when the nurse came in with the healing potion.

Theron took it, his voice gentle. “This is crucial for your recovery, Rhea. Let me change it for you.”

A quiet smile crossed my face. I didn’t resist as the liquid flowed into my veins.

Theron, in the end, it’s you who sealed my way home.

I slept deeply, dreaming of my cold days in the orphanage, and of the sweet memories with Theron that we’d never get back.

When I woke, he was gone. I didn’t look for him.

I ate a little, then headed to Silvermoon to visit my friend with the baby.

Just outside the hospital, from a nearby hedge, I heard Sienna’s furious voice.

“Theron! How much longer are you going to make me wait? Are you that afraid of her finding out?”

“You promised you wouldn’t touch her until after the baby is born! But I saw you kiss her while she was asleep!”

Theron’s voice was low, his face pale. “She’s weak right now. Just give me a few more days until she finishes the treatment. Two days at most. I’ll give you an answer then.”

I smiled bitterly. What difference did two days make?

I was leaving anyway.

So I stepped out.

“No need to wait. Let’s do it now.”

Theron’s head snapped around, his face going ashen.
