His Disabled Sweetheart Stole My Wedding, I Wed His Rival Chapter 06

Chapter 6 He Was Pretty Great

It wasn’t until that night, with him pinning me under his body and heat rolling off his skin, that I snapped back to reality.

The smell of alcohol hit me and I woke right up.

I pressed a hand to his chest.

“Jaylen, you’re drunk. This was just an act. We only did this to piss off Kane.”

“An act? Not for me. I meant every second of it.”

His eyes looked right at me, warm and devastating, and for a moment I felt drunk too.

Before I could think, he kissed me again.

His calloused hands slid over my skin, leaving my thoughts a mess.

I didn’t know who moved first, only that it ended with both of us collapsing breathless on the bed.

The next few days, Jaylen acted like a man who had been starving for years.

He dragged me back into bed every chance he got.

I finally snapped and shoved him away.

“Jaylen, what the hell is wrong with you? Did you lose your mind?”

He pulled me right back in, one hand squeezing my waist, a lazy smile on his lips.

“Yeah. Took you long enough to notice. I’ve wanted you for a while.”

His eyes burned into me like he could see straight through my skin and into my thoughts.

My heart skipped hard. A ridiculous thought crept up on me.

I remembered what he said to Kane on our wedding day.

I hesitated.

“Jaylen… you didn’t actually have a crush on me, did you?”

He didn’t answer. He kissed me instead, firm and sure.

That gave me all the answer I needed.

A week after the wedding, we went to visit my parents.

I didn’t have to bring anything myself. Jaylen prepared a whole pile of gifts.

All of them were exactly the kind of things my parents liked.

My mom looped her arm through mine, smiling so wide she could barely hide it.

“You really picked yourself a great husband,” she said.

I glanced toward the yard, where Jaylen was chatting with my dad, and I couldn’t help but smile a little too.

He was pretty great.

Aside from… certain things being a bit overwhelming.

I drifted off for a second until my mom spoke again.

“By the way, sweetheart, have you been in touch with Kane lately?”

I paused.

“No. Why?”

Ever since the day of the wedding, after everything blew up, I blocked him on every platform.

A bunch of our old mutual friends tried talking to me in between, and I blocked them too,

The past few days had been so sweet and peaceful that I almost forgot he even existed.

My mom did not ease into it at all. She just poured everything out in one breath.

“You have not heard, have you? Kaleigh is pregnant. She says the baby is Kane’s and that he slept with her that night when he was drunk and she never agreed to it. She has been crying to anyone who will listen, saying he has to take responsibility. Honey, thank God you did not marry that boy.”

That was how I found out.

Kaleigh was pregnant, and the baby was Kane’s.

When the test came back positive, she told him through tears that he had crossed a line that night, that she had never said yes.

Mrs. Jones refused to believe her. There was no way she was going to let a girl with a scandal like that marry into the family.

So Kaleigh went nuclear.

She started posting long, emotional stories online, dropping screenshots of their chats, hinting that she might go to the police. The whole thing blew up fast.

Within a few days, it turned into a mess of people calling Kane out and demanding that he be “held accountable”.

To prove it had been a “real relationship” and not what Kaleigh was implying, and to calm everyone down, Mrs. Jones finally caved and agreed to the marriage.

Which was why they were now busy planning their wedding.

From what I heard, Kaleigh insisted on outdoing me in everything. The venue, the dress, the rings, the whole production…

Our wedding was put together at the last minute, but Jaylen did not cut corners at all. He basically turned the whole place into a movie set, with lights, special effects, live music, the works. Just the setup alone must have cost a fortune.

My dress was a custom piece by an international designer, one of a kind.

The ring? A ten carat rock.

And every piece of jewelry I wore was worth more than some people’s houses.

The truth was, the Jones family’s business had been declining for years.

His parents were desperate for me to marry into the family partly because they wanted my family’s investment.

Once the wedding fell apart, my family pulled every cent out.

The Jones family was hanging by a thread after that.

And now Kaleigh insisting on a wedding bigger than mine was basically pouring salt on the wound.

Mrs. Jones shut it down instantly.

She scoffed and said, “You showed up after everything was already set. And now you’re trying to leverage a pregnancy to tie my son to you. If you hadn’t helped him that day, we wouldn’t even be having this conversation.

“Let’s be honest. My son is going to marry someone who actually fits his future. Once the baby is born, you two can sort out custody with the lawyers.

“But a marriage? That is not happening.” (D
