His Disabled Sweetheart Stole My Wedding, I Wed His Rival Chapter 07

Chapter 7 He Had Been Played

The moment those words left Mrs. Jones’s mouth, something in Kaleigh snapped. She lunged at her, and the two of them started clawing at each other.

In the struggle, they lost their balance and both tumbled down the stairs.

By the time Kane rushed to the hospital, his mother was still in emergency surgery. The doctor told him she had suffered neurological trauma and that he needed to prepare himself.

Kane drew in a shaky breath and immediately asked about Kaleigh.

“What about Kaleigh? Her legs, are they okay? And her pregnancy? Is the baby alright?”

He looked frantic.

The doctor, on the other hand, seemed almost casual.

“Oh, her? She is fine. Barely a scratch. Her legs are perfectly healthy. As for a baby? What baby? She is not pregnant.”

The words hit Kane like three punches in a row.

He went rigid.

“She told me she had nerve damage and could not walk. How is that not true?

“And the pregnancy, what do you mean she is not pregnant? Could the tests be wrong? She even showed me her results.”

Kane was desperate to believe there had been some mistake.

The next thing the doctor handed him hit harder than anything he had been prepared for.

The doctor handed him a report on Kaleigh’s nerve scans and said, “You can take a look. Her tests show completely normal nerve function. There is no trauma, no pressure damage, nothing that would stop her from walking.”

Then the doctor passed him a second page.

“And there is no indication of a pregnancy. These results are solid.”

Kane stared at the two sheets, flipping back and forth as if the words might change if he checked enough times.

His voice went low and cold. Kaleigh froze.

A flash of panic crossed her face, but she slipped right back into that fragile act.

“Lie about what? Kane, I swear on everything, I didn’t lie to you.”

“Enough.”

Kane whipped the two medical reports at her. The papers slapped against her cheek.

“The doctor said your legs are perfectly fine. And you’re not pregnant. Which means that night I never touched you. Right?”

Kane stepped toward her, slow and deliberate. Kaleigh backed up until there was nowhere left to go.

Realizing she was cornered, Kaleigh tried to bolt, but Kane caught her by the wrist.

His eyes dropped to her perfectly steady legs, and his expression went pitch-black.

He practically shouted, “Didn’t you say you ended up like this because you were saving me? Didn’t you say your legs were damaged? Where’s the injury?”

Kaleigh’s face drained of all color.

Terrified he might actually lose it, she did the one thing she could think of-she called the

cops.

But when the officers arrived, they didn’t arrest Kane. They arrested her.

The investigation didn’t take long. Turns out Kaleigh had been running a whole scam on Kane.

Then the police pulled the security footage from Kane’s house. It showed Kaleigh was the one who shoved Mrs. Jones down the stairs.

After that, Kaleigh staged the whole scene to make it look like they had both slipped and fallen together.

Her little scheme backfired spectacularly.

And once the truth finally came out, Kane was drowned in regret.

Thankfully, after the doctors worked on her for hours, Mrs. Jones was no longer in critical condition, at least for now.
