When I Was Reborn, I Froze All Her Accounts Chapter 05

When I Was Reborn, I Froze All Her Accounts Chapter 05

“… What did you say?”

For a split second, Olivia thought she’d misheard.

The hotel clerk spoke with unwavering certainty.

“Your card has been flagged and frozen. It’s unable to complete any transactions.”

A dead silence instantly fell over the entire ballroom.

No one could snap out of their shock over the declined card.

Just then, the hotel entrance burst open. Two uniformed detectives stepped inside and headed

straight for Olivia at the front desk.

The lead detective held up his badge, his tone cold and flat.

“Ms. Carter, we’ve received a report that you’ve been involved in theft and fraud.”

“We need you to come with us for questioning.”

Olivia’s face drained of all color, and she whipped her gaze toward me.

“Scarlett, you…”

I stepped right in front of her and slapped her hard across the face.

“How dare you use my card to pay for this whole party, Olivia?!”

“I’ve got money, but I’m not some fool you can walk all over!!!

“Did you think you could spend my cash behind my back and get away with it? Nice try.”

Clutching her stinging cheek, Olivia stared at me in disbelief.

‘… So you went and froze my card behind my back?”

“Who else?” I shot back. “Did you expect me to leave it open so you could blow another four million buying cars for people who bite the hand that feeds you?”

I watched as the officers snapped handcuffs onto Olivia’s wrists and let out a scoff.

How do you get off spending other people’s money with zero guilt?

The teachers and students around me finally snapped out of their stupor.

“Wait a minute… that card wasn’t even hers to begin with?”

“Whoa, that’s plain old theft then. She straight-up stole it from Scarlett.”

“I never thought Olivia would pull something like this. Do you reckon she got framed somehow?”

Olivia jerked her head up, eyes red and blazing with hatred as she glared at me, grinding out her words through clenched teeth.

“Scarlett, did you plan all of this just to humiliate me in front of everyone?!”

I shrugged and replied softly.

“What else was I supposed to do? Can’t I press charges when you’re out here stealing my money?”

Ignoring Olivia entirely, I turned to the detectives.

“Officers, my lawyer has already relayed my position to you, correct?”

“I refuse to drop the charges or offer any leniency. I will pursue full legal restitution per state law.”

Panic crashed over Olivia at last.

She twisted toward Ethan, begging desperately.

“Ethan! Save me! Please, do something!”

Ethan furrowed his brows and started to step forward, but the officers escorted Olivia out in complete disgrace before he could intervene.

The second the lobby doors clicked shut, total silence fell over the room.

Out of nowhere, Ethan lunged over, grabbed my wrist, and seethed with rage.

“Scarlett! So what if Olivia spent some of your money?!”

“Did she hurt anyone or commit some horrific crime? Why do you insist on harping on this and refusing to let it go?”

“The Morettis are rolling in cash-you can easily afford it! Olivia only wanted to treat everyone and repay kindness she’d been shown. What’s so wrong with that?!”

I wrenched my arm free and struck him across the face.

“Are you out of your mind?!”

“She’s a scholarship student my family sponsored for years-she’s not family. She stole my card and drained my account. What, I’m not supposed to call the cops over that?”

Ethan stood there stunned from the slap, and I didn’t hold back.

“Do you think I’ll let you walk free just because she’s getting arrested, you two-timing idiot? Don’t kid yourself!”

A hotel staff member hurried over, speaking in a strictly professional tone.

“Mr. Rossi, seeing as Ms. Carter can no longer settle this balance, you are legally obligated to cover

the full charges for this banquet.”

“You are the named financial guarantor on file for this banquet, and the sole emergency contact we

have on record”

The hotel manager held out the bill to Ethan: sixty-eight thousand three hundred dollars total.

Ethan’s hands shook as he took the paper. He knew perfectly well he didn’t have nearly enough

money in his accounts.

His family gave him a monthly allowance of twenty thousand dollars, and he’d blown most of it over the years spoiling Olivia.

How was he supposed to come up with sixty-eight grand right now?
