Indeed Is My Weapon, Silence Is My Shield Chapter 04

Derek had been the golden child his whole life, the one everyone doted on. Even Isabel, his so-called sister, was expected to look after him.

I raised an eyebrow, taking in the red handprint on his cheek. “Oh? Are you even my real brother?”

His face went through a quick series of changes, a flash of panic, then anger, before settling back into his usual sneer. “Of course I am! No matter what you say, I’m still your brother!”

I laughed, dripping with sarcasm. “Really? I thought you only had one sister. Isabel. Remember? How does that make me your sibling?”

He relaxed visibly, relieved I hadn’t pushed further.

I slammed the door in their faces. “Keep banging, and you’ll regret it.”

By the time I finally woke up for real, the house was eerily quiet. No angry parents storming in to defend their precious son. Nothing.

I asked the housekeeper. Turned out—the whole family had gone shopping for Derek and Isabel’s joint birthday party, which was in two days. All four of them, happy and united. Without me.

The housekeeper gave me a pitying look.

Because who had it worse than me? The whole household revolved around the fake sister, and I was left alone.

Not that I cared. Today I had my own things to do. Them being gone actually worked out perfectly.

I took the hair samples I’d collected to a private DNA lab, handed them over, and waited outside for the results.

My phone buzzed. Isabel—using her personal number, because she wasn’t exactly a criminal mastermind.

[Guess what? Mom and Dad are buying ME the best gifts. They love me more. Blood doesn’t matter.]

Then a photo of a designer bag. [If you stop trying to steal my parents, I’ll buy you this one.]

I glanced at the price tag in the photo, fifty grand. Her monthly allowance was thirty. She’d have to save for two months.

I didn’t reply. Instead, I screenshotted everything and forwarded it to my parents.

Robert didn’t say a word, just wired me a million.

Margaret wrote back: [Elena, don’t be mad. Isabel’s all talk and no bite.]

[We didn’t wake you because Derek said you were tired, so we let you sleep in. I’m sorry, I bought you a gift too. Next time I’ll ask you first.]

Then she sent me another million.

Two million for a few screenshots. Not bad.

I looked at the freshly printed test results in my hand and smiled.

The family was about to get a much bigger surprise.
