Selling Out My Godfather Husband Chapter 07

Selling Out My Godfather Husband Chapter 07

Just as he was thinking about it, a sound suddenly came from the front door.

“Isabella? Are you back?” Luca hurried out.

But when he opened the bedroom door, the person standing in the living room was Gianna.

She was holding the bouquet of blush-pink garden roses Luca had just bought for Isabella and was about to leave with it.

Luca grabbed her wrist, his brows drawn tight. “What are you doing here? Who said you could take those flowers?”

Gianna seemed not to have expected Luca to be home.

After a brief flash of surprise, she put on the same sweet smile she always wore.

“Luca, you’re home.”

“After my mom was discharged, she kept saying she wanted to go outside and get some fresh air.”

“But she’s still weak and hasn’t fully recovered, so I thought I’d bring some flowers and greenery into the house to brighten things up for her.”

“I was going to ask you to come with me to buy some, but you didn’t answer your phone. I came here looking for you and saw this bouquet in the living room, so I thought I’d take it for now.”

For some reason, Gianna’s explanation sounded perfectly reasonable, but something strange stirred in Luca’s chest.

“Put it down. I bought that for Isabella.”

His refusal was stiff and blunt.

Gianna’s smile froze on her face.

She had not expected Luca to refuse her over something as small as a bouquet of flowers.

“Oh… I’m sorry. Is it because Isabella will get mad if she finds out? I thought it was only a bouquet and wouldn’t be that serious. I should have been more considerate.”

“Honestly, Isabella has never been considerate enough of you. You’re so busy every day, and she still gets upset with you over such petty things.”

“I’m a little jealous of her. She can act spoiled like that and still have someone put up with her. Unlike me…”

Luca’s expression turned completely cold.

It was as if he was only now realizing that Gianna was always belittling Isabella, whether directly or indirectly.

“Isabella is a good woman. She understands me and has always been considerate of me. Don’t say things like that again.”

Gianna could barely keep the smile on her face.

She nervously clenched the hem of her outfit, and her eyes began to redden.

“I’m sorry, Luca. I didn’t mean anything by it. I just…”

Luca cut her off.

“That outfit you’re wearing belongs to Isabella too, doesn’t it?”

“I remember it. It was the Valentine’s Day gift I gave Isabella. I never saw her wear it, so I thought she didn’t like it. Turns out it was with you.”

Gianna looked as if she was about to cry. She raised her hand and started unbuttoning it.

“The last time I came over, I saw this outfit and thought it suited me. I asked if I could try it on, and you were the one who said I could have it.”

“If that’s the case, I’ll take it off and give it back to Isabella.”

Luca stopped her hand at once.

“Enough.”

“Isabella isn’t like you. She doesn’t enjoy taking other women’s castoffs.”

“If you want something in the future, buy it yourself. Stop taking Isabella’s things. She’s too polite to push back, but that doesn’t give you the right to keep taking from her.”

Gianna opened her mouth, but she could not come up with a single word to argue.

Just then, a flash of light on her finger caught Luca’s attention.

He looked closer and saw that the ring on Gianna’s ring finger was Isabella’s original engagement ring.

He gripped Gianna’s wrist hard, the veins at his temple bulging.

“You even took Isabella’s ring? When did you ask her for this?”

“When we staged that fake wedding, I bought you a ten-carat diamond ring. Was that not enough? Do you have a heart at all?”

Gianna’s face flushed red, and she burst into tears.

“I didn’t take it!”

“The last time I came to your house, this ring was sitting on the coffee table, collecting dust.”

“Isabella must have looked down on you for being poor back then. She probably thought your engagement ring was too cheap to wear in public, so she took it off and threw it there.”

“I know you didn’t have money when you proposed to her. I know you saved for more than half a year just to buy this twenty-thousand-dollar ring.”

“I felt bad for you. I didn’t want a ring that meant so much to you to sit there and gather dust, so I put it on.”

“And now you’re talking to me like this? I’m so hurt.”

With that, Gianna ran out crying.
