Luca did not chase after her.

He only stood there in a daze.

He knew how much that engagement ring had once meant to Isabella.

Even the smallest scratch would make her heart ache for ages, and she would immediately send it in to be professionally polished.

Now, she did not even want the ring she had once treasured most.

Isabella might truly not want him anymore this time.

The moment that thought crossed his mind, Luca’s breathing went unsteady.

Panic and heartache crashed over him until they nearly brought him down.

He hurriedly pulled out his phone, ready to tell the housekeeper to check the household records and buy some things women usually liked.

That meant clothes, handbags, jewelry, and makeup.

Everything Gianna had taken from Isabella, he would replace one by one.

But then he thought better of it. The housekeeper did not understand Isabella’s taste at all.

He decided he should go himself.

This time, he would use his sincerity to win back the Isabella who had once looked at him as if he were her whole world.

He had just started the car when the Consigliere called.

Luca answered in a rush.

“How did it go? Where is Isabella? Is she all right?”

The questions came one after another, but the Consigliere did not answer any of them at first. When he finally spoke, his voice was choked with tears. He had always respected Isabella deeply. In the family’s darkest days, she had sold off her assets without hesitation to support them.

“Don, none of the nearby hospitals have any record of Donna receiving surgery. There’s only one segment of hospital security footage that captured her.”

“Maybe… maybe you should come see it yourself.”

Luca floored the gas pedal and sped back to the hospital.

On the way to the security room, his legs nearly gave out again and again.

“Bella, Isabella, please don’t let anything have happened to you.”

He kept praying silently in his heart.

After he reached the security room, the Consigliere pulled up the footage.

On the screen, the moment Luca saw that familiar figure being dragged out of the hospital by security with her arms pinned, his heart nearly shattered.

“Isabella!”

Even though he knew it was only a video, even though he knew Isabella could not hear him, Luca still could not control himself and almost lunged toward the screen.

On the footage, Isabella’s face was twisted in pain as she struggled to reach out to the people around her for help.

But the crowd truly believed she had been putting on an act to cause trouble, and they cursed at her and shoved her away.

Luca felt as if a knife had been driven into his heart, and he clenched his jaw so hard he nearly tasted blood.

“Why didn’t anyone save her? What happened to Isabella after that?”

Unable to hold back any longer, he rushed forward and dragged the progress bar straight to the end.

The next second, Luca’s eyes went wide.

On the screen, Isabella lay face down alone at the hospital entrance, completely still.

The security footage ended there.

“Luca… all the footage after that is gone. The nearby cameras were cut off at the same time too. It may have been a system-wide failure.”

The Consigliere spoke carefully.

“Aside from the hospitals nearby, I also checked every hospital in the city. None of them have any record of Donna.”

“Donna’s acute cardiomyopathy had already flared up three times while she was hospitalized. That surgery was her last chance.”

“We still haven’t found any record of her, and there are no travel records showing Donna left the city. Most likely… most likely, we’ll need to check with the police department next.”

Of course Luca understood what the Consigliere was implying.

He stood frozen in place, a strangled sound rising in his throat.

Then he violently coughed up a mouthful of blood, his eyes rolled back, and he passed out.
