I Saw The Comments And Chose My Dad Over The Doctor I Loved Chapter 07

The next morning, I followed my dad to the hospital as usual, though my state of mind was entirely different.

In the past, my heart was always filled with anxiety, wanting only to secretly draw closer to Waylon. Now, I walked with confidence, my mind completely occupied by the joy of our mutual feelings.

The moment we stepped into the outpatient building, eyes along the corridor fell on me one after another, and whispers broke out in waves.

I didn’t even need to listen to know that the scene of Waylon and me holding hands last night had likely been spread around by Blakely.

Keeping my expression natural, I didn’t dodge the stares at all and walked straight toward the office with my dad.

As soon as I walked through the door, I saw Blakely standing by a desk, pretending to be helpful by organizing patient charts. Out of the corner of her eye, she stared fixedly at me, her eyes swimming with resentment and hostility.

Waylon was already there, looking sharp and tall in his clean white coat. The instant he saw me walk in, a gentle smile rippled through his eyes, and he walked over to me naturally.

“Good morning.”

His voice was gentle, carrying a distinct trace of affection.

I nodded slightly, my cheeks burning a bit.

The interns standing nearby widened their eyes in shock, clearly surprised that the two of us had actually ended up together.

Unable to keep up her act any longer, Blakely slammed down the charts in her hand and stepped quickly in front of us, her tone deliberately carrying a wronged edge.

“Waylon, why did you decline Elowen’s call last night? Her blood sugar dropped suddenly, and she was so dizzy and miserable, but you ignored her when she reached out for help!”

She raised her voice on purpose, ensuring everyone in the office heard her loud and clear.

As soon as the words left her mouth, quite a few people looked over, their expressions turning subtle.

Elowen happened to walk into the office right at that moment. Hearing the words, her footsteps paused, a fragile look appearing on her face as she gently tugged at Blakely’s sleeve. “Blakely, stop it, it’s fine.”

Her features were gentle and harmless, presenting the picture of a deeply understanding person, which instantly won the sympathy of everyone around.

The comments section immediately began flashing across my vision, heavily biased.

[The FL is too gentle! She stays quiet even when she’s wronged!]

[By comparison, the extra is entirely too overbearing, hoarding the ML and making him cold-shoulder the FL!]

[I feel so bad for Elowen! Low blood sugar is awful!]

I watched the two of them playing off each other in front of me, and I understood clearly in my heart that this was a deliberately staged attempt to drive a wedge between Waylon and me.

Blakely wanted to use Elowen’s fragility to cement my reputation as a domineering brat and Waylon’s as an ungrateful, heartless bastard.

Waylon’s expression didn’t change; his tone was calm but carrying an unquestionable stance.

“I had personal matters to attend to last night and couldn’t help immediately. If Elowen was feeling unwell, she could have reached out to the on-duty nurse. The hospital has a proper emergency procedure. I’m not her only option.”

He didn’t show any favoritism, keeping a clear line between public and private matters.

A flash of shock crossed Elowen’s eyes, immediately followed by a faint, barely noticeable trace of disappointment, though she still spoke softly, “I understand. I’m sorry for bothering you.”

The way she carried herself only made everyone around them feel even more certain that Waylon had found someone new and was now neglecting his old flame.

Blakely immediately seized the opportunity to press the attack. “Waylon, you never used to treat Elowen like this! Ever since Alessia started clinging to you, you’ve changed! Can’t you stop being so selfish? Don’t ignore your old friends just because you’re in a relationship!”

Every word was targeted directly at me, intentionally shifting all the blame onto my shoulders.

I hadn’t planned on arguing, but watching her push boundaries and twist the truth made it impossible for me to stay silent.

I took a step forward to face Blakely directly, my tone crisp and powerful.

“Our relationship is our own business, and no one else gets a say,” I said. “Waylon has his own life to live. Since when is he supposed to drop everything and be permanently accountable for somebody else’s medical issues?”

“You can’t use caring about someone else as an excuse to interfere in our relationship.”

Blakely turned pale at my words, and she snapped back in a fit of rage. “If it weren’t for you badgering him constantly, Waylon would never have become like this! You’re a third wheel!”

That remark pushed me over the edge.

I looked straight at her, my eyes piercingly sharp. “Waylon and I share mutual feelings, so how could there possibly be a third party? The only one who’s been meddling in other people’s relationships and stirring up trouble is you.”

Consumed by rage and embarrassment, Blakely snapped. Without a second thought, she raised her hand and lunged to slap me.

I was already prepared and stepped aside to dodge it.

The next instant, Waylon caught Blakely’s arm, his grip measured but completely shutting down her movement.

A layer of frost coated his eyes, his tone freezing cold. “Blakely, watch your boundaries. If you cause a scene and resort to violence in this hospital, what qualifications would you have left to be a doctor?”

His reprimand echoed powerfully, and the entire office fell dead silent, with no one daring to make a sound.
