I Saw The Comments And Chose My Dad Over The Doctor I Loved Chapter 06

The glow from the streetlight spilled over softly, stretching our shadows across the ground until they overlapped completely.

Looking into Waylon’s clear, earnest eyes, the feelings I had bottled up for a whole year could no longer be hidden.

I sniffed, forcing down the lump in my throat, and spoke in a voice that was quiet but incredibly clear. “Waylon, I like you. I’ve liked you since the first time I saw you at the hospital.”

I had rehearsed this sentence countless times in my head, and today, I finally said it out loud.

The moment the words left my mouth, a massive weight lifted off my shoulders, erasing all the previous anxiety and humility.

A bright spark instantly rippled through Waylon’s eyes, and his lips curved up into a gentle smile, showing an uninhibited joy I had never seen on him before.

He reached out, softly ruffling the top of my head with pure tenderness. “Me too, Alessia. I’ve liked you for a long time.”

Those simple words instantly shattered all my grievances and insecurities.

I stared at him blankly as tears spilled over without warning—but this time, they were tears of happiness.

It turned out my efforts were never a one-way street, and my devotion had never been nothing more than foolish imagination.

The comments went completely berserk. Thick layers of text materialized, frantic and collapsing in on themselves.

[It’s totally ruined! The ML actually likes the extra!]

[What? The script isn’t supposed to be like this! The ML is supposed to be fiercely loyal to Elowen!]

[Help! Someone reset the plot! Blakely failed to cause trouble, and the original ML and FL are completely done!]

[The extra is turning the tables? This doesn’t make any sense!]

Looking at the chaotic comments, I suddenly felt completely at peace.

Who cared about the plot, destiny, or who was the extra or the main character?

Waylon liked me, and that was enough.

Seeing me cry, Waylon quickly wiped away the tears with his thumb, his tone carrying a mix of helplessness and indulgence. “Why are you crying? Did I take too long to respond and break your heart?”

I shook my head, sniffed, and then nodded with a smile. “A little bit.”

I had felt wronged for an entire year, trapped in self-doubt and the malicious assumptions of the comments.

Waylon let out a low laugh. His hand felt warm as he slid his fingers through mine, locking our hands together tightly.

“I won’t let that happen again.”

He made the promise solemnly, his gaze sincere and steady.

The night wind was gentle, and the night was quiet, scattering every bit of haze in my heart.

But before I could immerse myself in this happiness for long, a text from an unknown number popped up on my phone, the content incredibly piercing.

[Alessia, don’t celebrate too early. You have no idea what history Waylon and Elowen share. You can’t steal him away.]

I didn’t even need to ask to know this text came from Blakely.

She clearly wasn’t going to let this go easily.

My smile faded, and my expression darkened slightly.

Noticing the shift in my mood, Waylon glanced down at my screen, and a cold edge instantly flooded his eyes. “Ignore her.”

I looked up at him, asking softly, “Are you and Elowen really just neighbors?”

I wanted to believe him, but I also needed a definitive answer to put an end to all doubts.

Waylon nodded without hesitation, his tone incredibly serious. “We lived close to each other when we were kids. Her health wasn’t good, and her parents were away all year round, so my parents told me to look out for her.”

“That’s all it was. I’ve never had a single romantic feeling for her. And I didn’t go to medical school for her sake, either.”

Every word he spoke was crystal clear, completely shattering the pre-determined plot from the comments.

My heart finally settled back into place. I smiled again, tightening my grip on his hand.

Right then, Waylon’s phone began to ring. The caller ID displayed Elowen.

The atmosphere instantly turned awkward, and the comments section began to scroll frantically once more.

[Here it comes! The FL makes her entrance! The drama is starting!]

[The ML will definitely pick up. He cares about the FL!]

[The extra’s sweet moment is about to break!]

Looking at the flashing call notification, I felt no anxiety at all. I simply watched Waylon calmly.

Waylon didn’t hesitate for a second. He pressed the decline button, flipped his phone to silent, and shoved it back into his pocket.

He looked back down at me, his eyes filled with nothing but gentleness.

“Right now, I only want to be with you.”
