The Unwanted Mrs. Whitmore Chapter 09

The Unwanted Mrs. Whitmore Chapter 09

He froze.

I raised my hand and pushed him away.

“For all these years, you’ve hated me.”

“That feeling doesn’t disappear overnight.”

“You regret it now, but not because you love me so much.”

“It’s because there really is a man who chose me, and you can’t stand it.”

“Some people only want things once they can’t have them.”

“I know that.”

“But I don’t care anymore.”

“Callum, I want to be loved too.”

“Just like

you said, I want to find someone I like, build a life and a family with him, hold his hand when we go out, and be chosen by him without hesitation.”

“You can’t give me that.”

“Even if you say you can now, after a while, a few casual words from your friends will make you

regret it again.”

“You’ve been protected for too long. You don’t understand that once something is gone,

it’s gone.”

I got out of bed and began putting on my clothes.

Looking at him standing frozen in place, I left him with a few final words.

“When I saved Evelyn back then, I didn’t know the Whitmore family was rich.”

“But she paid for my education, gave me a settlement fund, and gave me the chance to invest. Those things truly changed my life.”

“I can’t say I got nothing from this marriage.”

“So for these 5 years, when you ignored me and humiliated me, I endured it.”

“Now you have someone more suitable for the Whitmore family, and it’s time for me to leave.”

“I’ll return the heirloom jewelry the Whitmore family gave me. Anything else that needs to be

returned, I’ll have my lawyer sort it out.”

I placed the bank card on the table and said goodbye to Callum.

He stood with his back to the door, his whole body in shadow.

I couldn’t see his expression.

I said, “Goodbye.”

“No.”

“Better yet, let’s not see each other again.”

“From now on, live the way you

want.”

Callum said nothing.

The door closed.

Click.

This 5-year farce of a marriage was finally over.

1 month later, Callum and I finalized the divorce.

Maybe enough time had passed.

He looked much calmer.

He wore a white shirt and quietly stayed with me through all the paperwork.

Before we parted, he said, “I’ve gone back to Whitmore Capital to take over the company. I’m not

with Vivian. I’ve also cut off that old group of friends.”

His tone was very steady.

After saying that, he looked at me quietly.

I smiled politely.

“If Evelyn knew, she would probably be very happy.”

“She gets lonely by herself. If you have time, go back and spend more time with her.”

Callum smiled bitterly.

“She’s still angry with me. Every time I go back, she throws me out.

Fine.

When people get older, sometimes they get stubborn like children.

I didn’t say anything more.

I got into Evan’s car.

He handed me a thermos.

“Your cramps are probably coming soon. I made you ginger tea.”

Not far away, Callum’s eyes darkened.

The car drove away from the courthouse.

Evan held my hand.

“We’ve been together for 2 years. Now I finally have an official title.”

He smiled gently, making me feel at ease.

I had to admit, Callum’s friends had been right about 1 thing.

People really should be with someone who lets them relax.

When I had been with Callum in the past, even when I liked him, I had always felt tense inside.

Now I had money, and I had my own sense of security.

And the person I had chosen was someone I could count on.

Even if Evan really changed someday, I could just start over.

Once there were no more worries, people dared to express affection directly.

Like now.

At a red light, I leaned over and kissed him.

“There. My secret boyfriend finally got promoted.”

“From now on, let’s build a good life together.”

Evan smiled and tightened his hand around mine.

“Okay. Let’s build a good life together.”
