My Alpha Mate Shoved Me Into The Trunk For The Omega’s Dog Chapter 06

My Alpha Mate Shoved Me Into The Trunk For The Omega’s Dog Chapter 06

I stood frozen for a long moment before it hit me.

In Hemlock’s eyes, my request to break our bond was nothing more than a petty tantrum.

So he carried on his soft, flirty dynamic with Mia all while waiting for me to cave and beg his forgiveness like I always had before.

I couldn’t help a bitter, breathless laugh.

“Hemlock, every time I backed down in the past wasn’t because I was in the wrong—it was because I refused to let trivial fights chip away at our bond.”

“But that chapter of us is fully closed now.”

Hemlock struggled to hold back his impatience and desperation.

“We loved each other for six whole years, and our mating ceremony was scheduled for the end of the year. How can you be so reckless?”

I remained eerily calm.

“Six years? You still remember that?”

The air around us seemed to turn icy cold.

I stepped forward toward him, slow and deliberate.

“Then you ought to remember—”

“how you treated me for the past six months?”

Hemlock and I first met on the pack training grounds.

We’d been together from the age of twenty-two until I turned twenty-eight.

Once, we’d only ever had each other to rely on.

“Have you spared me a single thought these last six months?”

Faced with my accusations, Hemlock instinctively tried to argue back.

But his mouth opened and closed without a single word coming out.

I reminded him flatly. “Last month I fell ill and asked you to pick up medicine for me, yet you brushed me off claiming you were swamped with work.”

“But when Mia ran a fever, you rushed over with ice packs to cool her down and stayed by her bedside all night long!”

“On our anniversary, you brought Mia along to celebrate with us, leaving me sitting alone in the corner ignored.”

“On that trip we’d planned, you stuffed me into the trunk to make room for Mia and her dog. I ended up hospitalized from heatstroke in the pack medical center.”

“And what about you?”

I lifted my gaze to meet his.

“You spent the whole trip laughing and enjoying yourself with her, her dog, and all her friends!”

Every sentence I spoke deepened the shadow crossing Hemlock’s face.

“Avril, I’ve told you countless times—Mia and I are only—”

A phone ringtone cut his sentence short mid-thought.

He glanced at me, hesitation flickering across his features.

I gave a faint, hollow smile. “Answer it. Mia might have something urgent going on.”

Hemlock snatched up his phone instantly.

“Mia, I’m tied up right now. Whatever it is can wait until tomorrow—”

“What? Buddy’s gone missing?”

“Don’t panic, search the surrounding area first. I’m on my way over immediately!”

He hung up and turned to bolt away.

After a few hurried steps, he suddenly remembered I was still standing there.

He glanced back, looking flustered, a faint flicker of guilt in his eyes.

“Avril, Buddy’s lost and Mia’s crying hysterically. I have to rush to her side…”

My expression stayed blank and steady, and I gave a small nod.

“Go ahead.”

Visible relief washed over him, a tiny smile tugging at his lips.

“I knew you’d understand me!”

He flagged down a taxi, pausing to glance back before climbing inside.

“Avril, we haven’t finished our talk yet. Wait here for me, and I’ll come straight back once we find Buddy!”

Just like every single time before.

He always left me waiting in place.

Pushed our conversations off to some vague “later.”

But this time—

I wouldn’t wait for him anymore.

I turned and walked back toward my hotel.

Unlike the dry, sweltering Silverpine Forest, the mountain winds of Blackthorn Valley carried a cool crispness, street lamps glowing bright all along the sidewalk.

As I passed a café’s entrance, a young mated wolf couple stepped out.

They chatted happily, hands intertwined affectionately.

It brought back memories from right after we finished training on the pack grounds.

I’d stuck by Hemlock’s side to build a life here in Blackthorn Valley.

When we first took over pack related issue, we were both swamped under piles of paperwork.

Back then we only ordered one drink, coffee or sweet ice tea, to split

between us and sip fast amid our busy schedules.

Hemlock’s old promises echoed crystal clear in my mind.

He’d sworn he’d work tirelessly to expand our pack’s territory, furnish a perfect pack house just for us, and throw a grand mating ceremony in the near future.

He’d promised to make me the happiest Luna alive.

Now he held vast territory, status, and prestige all to his name.

But his future Luna would never, ever be me.

Back in my hotel room, I’d just settled into bed to rest when another message popped up on my screen.

“Avril, the Alpha spent hours searching for Buddy and just fell asleep exhausted, so you don’t need to wait up for him.”

Attached to the text was a photo.

Mia wore thin camisole sleepwear, holding Buddy curled in her arms.

Hemlock lay asleep on the bed behind her, bare-chested.

This message had clearly been sent by Mia using Hemlock’s phone on purpose.

I stared at the screen for a few quiet seconds.

Then tugged my lips into a faint, empty smirk.

No rage.

No urge to fire off accusations.

Only one sharp, decisive move—

I powered my phone completely off.
