My Alpha Mate Shoved Me Into The Trunk For The Omega’s Dog Chapter 01

My Alpha mate, Hemlock, and I were set to leave for a cabin by Mistveil Lake for vacation.

A single minute before we pulled out, the Omega he’d grown up with rolled up with a group of friends and a pet dog, begging a ride.

There wasn’t nearly enough room in the car, but Hemlock shoved me straight into the trunk anyway.

The drive stretched on for three whole hours.

The heat blazed against my skin like an open furnace.

My she-wolf writhed in agony beneath my flesh.

When I woke again, I was laid up in the pack medical center, the trip I’d spent weeks planning long gone.

That night, I lay alone in the hospital bed and scrolled Mia’s social feed.

“Twisted my ankle by accident, but got my Alpha’s undivided care!”

The photo showed Hemlock kneeling to rub her sore ankle.

I tapped the like button without hesitation.

Then typed a comment: “You want him? He’s all yours.”

I’d just finished my IV and settled in to rest when Hemlock stormed in, furious.

“Avril! If you’ve got a problem, take it up with me. Why’d you say such cruel things to Mia?”

My comment to Mia had clearly set him off.

A bitter laugh bubbled up in my throat.

“I ended up hospitalized from heatstroke, yet you spent the whole trip entertaining that Omega? Who exactly are you mated to?”

Hemlock didn’t carry an ounce of guilt.

“Blame your own weak constitution. Why should everyone’s fun get ruined just because you can’t handle a little heat?”

I clenched my fists tight.

Fresh red blood welled up on the back of my hand where the IV had been pulled out.

“Mia’s dog Buddy got to ride inside the car, but you made your future Luna suffer three hours locked in the trunk!”

Hemlock’s patience frayed thin.

“Buddy gets car sick. Why’re you picking fights with a pet?”

“Everyone else got a seat, and you had the whole trunk to yourself. What more could you possibly complain about?”

My heart turned colder by the second.

When I stayed silent for too long, his tone softened.

“Quit throwing a fit. Mia sent you some food to make up for it.”

He slid a crumpled, flattened takeout box across the bed toward me.

It held nothing but their leftover scraps.

Greasy, overly spicy garbage.

A memory hit me hard from the week prior. Mia had complained to Hemlock that Buddy refused to eat.

He’d ordered the pack servants to slow-cook a full pot of beef ribs and deliver it to her house that same night.

It hit me clear as day. In his eyes, I ranked even lower than Mia’s dog.

Hemlock’s phone buzzed then.

Mia’s custom ringtone blared through the quiet ward.

Her soft, whimpering voice crackled over the speaker. “Hemlock, my stomach hurts so bad…”

Hemlock’s face paled instantly.

“What? How bad? I’m coming right now.”

He spun on his heel and bolted out of the room without a single glance back.

Staring at his retreating back, eevery shred of hope inside me withered away.

I grabbed the leftover food box and tossed it straight into the trash can.

The next day, I headed out alone for a walk along the lake.

Thick trees lined the shore, the lake water crystal clear.

No screaming fights, just quiet peace I hadn’t felt in months.

After wandering my fill, I headed back to the pack territory by myself.

I pushed open the front door of the pack house and froze dead in my tracks.

The entire space was wrecked.

The pack hall was piled high with empty snack bags, crumbs of chips scattered all over the rug.

My favorite throw pillow had been torn open, cotton stuffing strewn everywhere across the floor.

Beside the couch, Mia’s dog lapped food greedily from a bowl.

That bowl was my regular dinner dish.

Buddy snapped and snarled viciously the second I stepped inside.

A heartbeat later.

Hemlock and Mia stepped out of the bathroom together.

Mia wore nothing but Hemlock’s oversized button-up shirt, her damp hair falling loose over her shoulders.

Hemlock held a hair dryer in one hand.

He visibly panicked the moment he laid eyes on me.

Mia quickly scooped Buddy into her arms and pulled on an innocent smile.

“Welcome home, Avril. I knew the pack servants wouldn’t take proper care of Hemlock while you were gone, so I came to help out. I messed up my clothes cooking earlier, so I had to hop in the shower—please don’t misunderstand.”

My gaze locked onto the ceramic bowl full of dog food at her feet.

It was a rare souvenir an Alpha from a neighboring pack had gifted me not long ago.

Mia followed my stare and put on a sheepish, apologetic expression.

“I just grabbed the first bowl I found for Buddy to eat out of. If it bothers you, I’ll wash it right away!”

I pulled my lips into a cold, sharp smirk.

“Keep it. I’ve got no interest fighting over tableware with a dog.”
