My Billionaire Husband Lost His Memory, and I Left With His Child Chapter 08

Time passed quickly.

After we moved out of the Whitmore estate, Adrian drove Leo to and from school every day.

At first, Leo was still a little reserved. Every time he got into the car, he would say, “Mister,” and then fall silent.

Adrian didn’t rush him. He simply kept him company day by day, building LEGO bricks with him, reading picture books, and teaching him to mold clay on the balcony.

Then one night, while Adrian was reading a picture book with Leo, the little boy’s eyelids grew heavy. Half-asleep, he mumbled, “Good night, Daddy.”

Adrian froze beside the bed.

He crouched by the bed for a long time before finally answering softly, “Good night, Leo.”

Soon, our wedding day arrived.

When I walked down the aisle in my white gown, he stood at the end, watching me. His eyes turned red almost instantly.

When I reached him, I could not help laughing softly. I asked him why he was crying.

He gripped my hand tightly before answering, “I finally got you back.”

His lashes lowered, and he repeated it. “I finally got you back.”

His vows were short. He didn’t use notes.

Just as the minister was about to pronounce us married, the church doors were suddenly shoved open from the outside.

Vanessa stood in the doorway in a black dress that looked almost like mourning clothes. A group of people followed behind her, holding a banner that read, [Homewrecker Bride. Shame on the Whitmores.]

The reporters at the entrance immediately raised their cameras and microphones toward me in my wedding dress.

Vanessa’s voice was sharp and aggrieved.

“How long has Adrian even known you since you came back? I spent years working hard in the Whitmore family, caring for his parents, and he turned around and married you.”

“You expect people to believe you didn’t use some kind of trick? Who would buy that?”

The cameras swung toward me. Someone whistled, and others jeered while recording.

Behind us, Mr. Whitmore gripped the doorframe and shouted anxiously, “Stop this! If there’s a problem, we can talk about it at home.”

Before I could speak, Adrian had already tightened his grip on my hand and walked slowly to the edge of the altar.

“You keep saying you worked hard in the Whitmore family and cared for my parents for years. Then explain something to me.”

“The child you brought into this family. Why did the DNA test show that he is related to you by blood, but has no relation to me whatsoever?”

“You know exactly where that child came from.”

The church went silent at once.

Vanessa’s face drained of color until it was white as paper.

Her lips parted, and her voice came out thin and unsteady. “You investigated me?”

Adrian didn’t answer. He only turned his head and gave the security team a look.

Several guards in black uniforms filed in. They took down the banner, ordered them to stop recording, and escorted the people out one by one.

The head of security walked up to Vanessa. “Ma’am, please cooperate.”

Vanessa stood there as if all the strength had been pulled out of her.

In the end, she lowered her head and walked out of the church step by step.

The church fell quiet again.

The minister cleared his throat. “I now pronounce you married. You may kiss.”

All the guests laughed.

Adrian smiled too and lowered his head toward me.

Just then, someone glanced down at his phone. His expression changed, and he quietly nudged the person beside him.

Within minutes, the news spread through the room that Vanessa’s father had been taken into custody.

Tax evasion. Bribery. Several suspicious transactions with no clear source. The evidence chain was complete and airtight. Anyone could tell this had not been done on a whim.

Mr. Whitmore froze with his wineglass halfway to his lips, but he said nothing.

In the days that followed, Adrian never mentioned the Hale family, and no one dared bring them up in front of him.

He blocked every possible way out for them.

Financing, suppliers, distributors, even several asset transfers the Hale family had been counting on were suddenly frozen halfway through because of unexpected compliance reviews.

In less than three weeks, the Hale family could no longer scrape together enough cash to keep operations running.

Corporate registration changes for several subsidiaries under Mr.

Hale’s name began appearing online one after another.

The people who used to depend on the Hale family scattered overnight.

At dinner one evening, Mr. Whitmore heard the news from someone and set down his fork. He was silent for a long time.

He looked at Adrian, then at me as I lowered my head to peel shrimp for Leo. His lips moved slightly. “Adrian, don’t go too far.”

I never saw Vanessa again.

I heard that after her family fell apart, she left the country without even packing properly.

The once-praised Ms. Hale, the woman everyone in their circle had called exceptional, vanished quietly from everyone’s social feed.

After that, Mr. and Mrs. Whitmore stopped saying anything.

Bit by bit, control of the entire Whitmore family shifted into Adrian’s hands.

Only then did they finally realize that when their son hardened his heart, no one could be more ruthless than him.

The sunset was beautiful that day.

Leo had fallen asleep with his head tilted in his car seat, a piece of candy from the wedding favors still clutched in his hand.

Adrian carried him in one arm and held my hand with the other as we

walked back to the parking lot.
