My Classmate Bragged About Her Dad’s Yacht, Unaware My Mom Paid for It Chapter 08

“That’s enough. Spare me the devoted father-daughter act.”

My mother snapped her fingers.

The attorney beside her immediately stepped forward and handed over two thick sets of documents.

“Mr. Lynn, this is the divorce agreement.”

“In addition, this is the complaint we’re filing against you for suspected embezzlement, misappropriation of company funds, and asset transfers over the past ten years.”

“The total amount involved is five and a half million dollars.”

“We have already petitioned the court for an asset freeze. As of five minutes ago, every account and piece of real estate under your name has been fully frozen.”

Gregory’s head snapped up, his eyes bloodshot.

“Lana, you are ruthless.”

He stopped playing the groveling lapdog and tore off his hypocritical mask completely.

He got to his feet and wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth with a sneer.

“You think five or six million dollars is enough to trap me?”

“I’ll have you know I already have far more than that stashed away elsewhere.”

“I used your company’s channels to secure that south-side development parcel. Once I flip it, the profit will double.”

“Even without you, Lana, I’ll still be a businessman worth tens of millions.”

The more he spoke, the more excited he became. He truly believed he was about to turn everything around.

“You want me to walk away without a dime? Dream on.”

“Those partners are loyal to my network, not yours. If you dare kick me out, Shaw Group’s cash flow will collapse immediately.”

Looking at Gregory’s arrogant face, my mother could not help laughing.

Her laugh was full of contempt and mockery.

“Gregory, do you think you’re especially clever?”

“Do you think you secured that south-side parcel on your own merits?”

My mother took one step forward, her presence overwhelming.

“That parcel was bait I deliberately released.”

“Not only is the land tangled in a serious title dispute, but city planning has already designated it as a protected conservation zone. No commercial project will ever be approved there.”

“You used embezzled company funds to pour money into that bottomless pit, and now that land is rotting in your hands.”

Gregory’s smile froze, and his eyes tightened with shock.

“That’s impossible. That’s impossible.”

“Commissioner Turner clearly told me the zoning could be changed.”

My mother shook her head and looked at him.

“Commissioner Turner? He was transferred out and placed under investigation last month.”

“The connections you were so proud of were nothing more than leftovers I had already discarded.”

“All those so-called business strategies of yours were nothing but ridiculous little tricks to me.”

Gregory’s body began to tremble uncontrollably.

He finally realized that from beginning to end, he had been under Lana’s control.

The escape route he had worked so hard to build was not only a dead end. It had also become the very evidence that would put him behind bars.

“No, Lana, you can’t be this heartless.”

Gregory dropped to his knees with a heavy thud, his kneecaps striking the concrete.

He crawled forward and tried to grab my mother’s leg, but a bodyguard kicked him away.

“I was wrong. I really know I was wrong.”

“I don’t want that south-side parcel anymore. I’ll find a way to pay the money back too.”

“Give me one more chance. We can remarry, and I’ll spend the rest of my life doing whatever you ask.”

“For Chloe’s sake, please don’t call the police on me.”

I walked up to him and looked coldly at the way he groveled.

“Don’t say my name. It makes me sick.”

“When you transferred assets to support those two, did you ever think about me?”

“When your daughter forced me to kneel on the yacht and threw a bottle at me, did you protect me?”

Gregory had no answer. Cold sweat rolled down his forehead in heavy drops and hit the ground.

Kneeling there, Gregory realized I was not buying any of it.

He suddenly dropped the pathetic act and slowly stood up.

He brushed the dust off his knees, and a sinister look settled over him.

“Lana, I lost this round, but I am not someone you can scare into submission.”

“If I hadn’t helped you land those major deals back then, would Shaw Group be where it is today?”

“I’ve been in that company for years. Do you really think I have

nothing on you?”

“I kept copies of those accounting ledgers from the finance

department, and I saved the agreements with several overseas

suppliers.”

“If you insist on destroying me today, then I’ll burn everything down

with me. None of us will come out clean.”

Gregory’s face twisted into a vicious sneer. He thought he had finally

found the Shaw family’s weak spot.

Beside him, Jasmine saw this and became arrogant again. She

scrambled up from the ground.

“Did you hear that? My dad has plenty of ways to deal with you.

“Once my dad bankrupts you, this yacht will still be mine.”
