The Deceived Luna Chapter 05

The Deceived Luna Chapter 05

Everyone made their way toward the room in a tense procession.

When that grim, dark building came into view, Draven faltered.

The door was open.

The officers walked in first, and their faces changed instantly.

Draven stood at the threshold. He didn’t go in.

He cleared his throat. “Grace, stop fooling around.”

No one answered.

He took two steps forward. Then he saw it.

In the corner. That small figure.

Curled up on the ground, as if she had simply fallen asleep.

But her skin had already changed color, marked with dark purple bruises of liver mortis.

The champagne glass in Draven’s hand shattered on the floor.

It broke into pieces.

The crowd gasped.

“Oh my god, how can there be a dead body in the resort?”

“What happened?”

The influencer’s phone was still livestreaming. The comments had gone berserk.

[What did these rich people do?]

[Who is this child? How did she die here?]

[This is horrifying!]

Nadia tried to explain. “This child always does this. She fakes being sick to scare people.”

She reached out and pinched the child’s cheek.

But when her finger touched that icy cold skin, an eerie feeling shot through her entire body.

She snatched her hand back and screamed.

Nadia fainted on the spot.

The coroner arrived quickly. “This child has been dead for several days. Where are the parents?”

Comments flooded the screen.

[How can parents be so irresponsible?]

[Leaving a child to die alone like that. So tragic.]

[What did this child go through?]

Draven stood frozen, his mind reeling.

He hadn’t believed Grace was actually dead.

When I woke up in the hospital, a swarm of reporters were already

cornering Draven.

“Mr. Draven, what are your thoughts on the death of a young girl inside your resort?”

“What is your relationship to the child?”

“Why was a child locked inside your resort?”

I looked down at the chains on my body.

Today, they weren’t fastened tight, someone must have been careless. With a hard yank, the chains came loose.

I burst out of the room, ran up to him, and grabbed his shirt. “Draven! You killed my daughter!”

“This is all your fault!”

“Give me back my daughter!”

The reporters turned their cameras on me.

Someone recognized me.

“Isn’t that the princess of Moonveil Pack? What’s she doing here?”

“Why is she wearing a hospital gown?”

Tears streamed down my face uncontrollably. “I don’t want anything anymore. I don’t want Moonveil Pack. I don’t want the engagement. I gave it all to Nadia.”

“Why won’t you just leave me alone?”

“You will both pay for my daughter’s life!”

The morgue was freezing.

I saw Grace’s small body lying there, completely still.

The last thread inside my mind snapped.

I sank to the floor and sobbed.

Draven stood behind me, his eyes unreadable.

I sprang to my feet and slapped him across the face. “Bastard!”

Then another slap. “Animal!”

“If you hadn’t tricked me and locked us in there, my daughter would still be alive!”

“She was only five years old when you locked her in there!”

“How could you be so cruel? She was your daughter too!”

Slap after slap. He didn’t dodge.

“I begged you so many times! I begged you on my knees!”

“Why wouldn’t you believe she was really sick?”

“Give me back my daughter! Bring her back to me!”

I crouched down, hugged myself, and cried until I couldn’t speak.

Draven’s face was red from my hits. “Isolde, I really didn’t know…”

“The bodyguards told me Grace was fine…”

“I’m sorry, Isolde. I’m so sorry…”

He looked at his daughter’s still body, clutched his head with both hands, and trembled.

“How did this happen? How could this have happened?”
