After the Real Heiress Came Home, the Fake One Went on a Killing Spree Chapter 05

I laughed bitterly. “I figured I still had some value. But you never saw this coming-I’ve always had a

rebellious side. I don’t hand control over to anyone.”

“You and Brynn? Neither one of you is my only option.”

That got to him. He hadn’t expected me to be so blunt.

I stood up. Cole grabbed my wrist. “Can’t you just give me a chance?”

“A chance for what? For you to run back to her? Or for you to use me?”

I pulled my arm free and walked away in my heels.

This guy. What was he playing at?

I ignored him, but he didn’t give up. For the next few days, I got flowers. Little gifts.

He was outside my office when I left work. He was across the street when I arrived. I took a deep breath.

“Cole, what exactly do you want?”

“I’m chasing you. Can’t you tell? Sloane, we’ve known each other more than ten years. Once we got engaged, things were always good between us. I admit-I hesitated when the whole real-daughter thing came up.”

“But now I can honestly tell you: it’s you I want. You as a person.”

I looked at him. His eyes were sincere. He didn’t seem to be lying.

To be fair, he was exactly my type. Great face, tall, fit, disciplined. And we were very good together in bed.

But this was a business arrangement. There wasn’t much real feeling.

With so much at stake, I couldn’t afford a single wrong move.

Especially now.

“Cole, don’t. I’m not a Hayes anymore. I don’t even know who my real parents are.”

“So what? Sloane, you’re you, I only want you.”

He pulled me into a hug. I sighed and let him hold me.

After a while, he let go. “I’ll show you I mean it.”

“Okay. Don’t let me down.”

He looked happy. I didn’t say no.

I wasn’t going to burn that bridge just yet.

Meanwhile, the Hayes came looking for me, too.

My assistant told me Brynn had the nerve to call MC’s headquarters and announce that I’d been kicked out of

the Hayes family and she was now in charge.

You can imagine how that went. They blocked her.

Did this idiot really think closing a deal was just making a phone call?

Over the next three days, one company after another cut ties with Hayes Holdings. Finally, Grant showed up

to see me.

I was walking into my office building when I saw his familiar car. I had to laugh. Grant rushed over. “Sloane,

come back. We can’t hold on much longer.”

“You grew up a Hayes. We raised you. They were just confused for a moment. Cut us some slack and help us

out, please?”

I raised an eyebrow. “Didn’t you call me an employee? Tell the real daughter to come beg me. Maybe I’ll think

about it.”

Then I walked around him and went upstairs.

This company was mine. I hadn’t been idle while I worked for the Hayes.

They all knew what I could do. But the second the biological daughter came back, they let everyone trash me.

They didn’t say anything clever. They just stood by while their relatives sneered at me and dismissed everything I’d done.

I’m not ungrateful. I paid them back by making them millions. That should have been enough.

All I did now was put them back where they started. And they couldn’t handle it?
