After the Real Heiress Came Home, the Fake One Went on a Killing Spree Chapter 06

Grant went home and lost his temper.

It was two more days before I saw him and Brynn again.

I sat high up in my bright, clean office. Brynn glared at me with a sour face. Grant gave her a shove.

“Didn’t you say you had something to say? Hurry up.”

She didn’t want to, but she faced me.

“Sloane, I’m sorry. I was being stupid. I… I’m asking you to come back.”

I laughed out loud. “Ask me to come back?”

“Let me do the math. Hiring a CEO right now would cost at least ten million a year, plus equity. How much equity are you offering me?”

Brynn clenched her fists. She remembered what I said when I left-that the Hayes relied on Sloane, not their

name.

Now I was asking for something in return, and she didn’t want to give it. But she had to say something.

“What if I give you twenty percent of the equity?”

I used to hold sixty percent of the family shares. Now she wanted me to be grateful for twenty? I laughed.

“I could triple the Hayes’ value if I took over. But why should I help you?”

“But you’re still part of the family! Mom and Dad raised you. You can’t just watch them go bankrupt. And this is all your fault anyway. If you hadn’t left, none of this would have happened.”

I narrowed my eyes. “So it’s my fault?”

Grant shoved Brynn again. “What the hell are you saying? Of course it’s not Sloane’s fault! Apologize.”

“Sloane, she’s apologizing. Just take it. What if we give you all the equity back? All sixty percent.”

Brynn froze. “Dad? Then I’d have nothing. This is how the Hayes compensate me? You fought so hard to find

me, and now you’re taking it all away? What am I even to you?”

“You’re out of luck.”

I looked at Brynn. “Who exactly found you? And who told you to come back and fight me for the

inheritance?”

She panicked. “Don’t try to turn us against each other. I came back because I’m their real daughter. I’m not

fighting for anything. It was always mine.”

“If I’d grown up a Hayes, I wouldn’t be worse than you. What’s so great about you? I grew up in terrible

conditions. If you’d been in the country, you’d be worse than me.”

I smiled. “Still won’t tell the truth?” I looked at Grant. “Even you don’t know how she actually got to you, do

you?”

Grant looked confused.

I’d known I wasn’t their biological daughter for a long time. But why had the Hayes searched so hard for

years and found nothing, and then suddenly-bang-the kid appeared?

And the moment she showed up, she demanded the inheritance. Who told her how many shares I had in the

Hayes company?

“You know the saying-two dogs fight over a bone, and a third runs off with it. So who’s the third?”

Grant wasn’t stupid. It hit him all at once. Someone had set this up on purpose.

“I’m not taking over the Hayes. Either I acquire you, or you figure it out yourselves.”

I’d given them my final warning. What they did with it was up to them.

Brynn fumed. “Don’t be so dramatic.”
