My Mafia Husband Steamed Me and My Child for His Ex-Lover Chapter 04

Marcus’s POV

Damn Don Cassian.

He wasn’t human.

Just because I tried a few times to persuade Don Cassian to check on Madam Sera, he got angry and sent me to clean the garage.

Following a Don like this was bad luck.

Poor Madam Sera.

My phone suddenly vibrated.

A text message.

Sender: Sera Holloway.

The content was only one set of coordinates: 42.3601° N, 71.0589° W.

That was the address of the old Blackwood family warehouse.

I was confused. I called back. The number was already turned off.

I stood there stunned for a few seconds, then a deep chill crawled over me.

Driven by something I couldn’t explain, I rushed back toward the steam cabinet.

Then I glanced at Sera’s phone.

It was still soaked in water, its screen shattered.

There was no way it could have sent any signal.

A chill ran down my spine.

## The Soul of Seraphina’s POV

The TV screen went black.

Cassian and Rowena stared at each other for several seconds, both of them seeing the cold sweat on the other’s forehead.

Rowena was the first to break the silence.

“Cassian, you know me. I’m timid. I wouldn’t even dare step on an ant. How could I do something like that?”

Cassian’s face was pale. He tugged at the corner of his mouth, comforting her and himself at the same time.

“I believe you. Sera must have made that with Al to trick me.”

The two of them continued eating.

But Cassian felt inexplicably irritated. The more he looked at the food on the table, the more nauseated he felt.

He served Rowena a bowl of cream mushroom soup. Rowena copied him and fed it to him affectionately.

He enjoyed her teasing, but the unease in his chest grew heavier.

“Why does this soup taste so bad?” he snapped, blaming the food for his irritation. “If the chef can do the job, do it. If not, get out.”

“It’s not even as good as Sera’s.”

He ignored Rowena’s ugly expression and kept talking.

“Right. Rowena’s recovery is important. We still need Sera to come out and make her proper meals.”

“Go tell Sera I’m giving her a chance. As long as she kneels and apologizes to Rowena, I’ll forgive her.”

Thinking that Sera was due any day, his tone softened.

“Doesn’t she keep using the baby as an excuse? Tell her that as long as she prepares Rowena’s meals for one week, I’ll arrange the delivery room so she can give birth in peace.”

His men exchanged looks, stammering, none of them daring to speak.

“What are you standing around for?” he said impatiently.

“Sir… you should go to the garage and see for yourself.” They wiped sweat from their foreheads, their faces filled with terror. “Something’s wrong with the steam cabinet.”

Panic crossed Cassian’s face for a moment. But soon, he gave a low laugh.

“It’s fine. She probably just feels unwell. She’s trying to scare you.”

“Good. I’ll use this chance to make her apologize properly to Rowena, then take her to the hospital.”

“Madam…” Marcus rushed in from the garage, his voice shaking. “Madam is dead.”

“What?”

Cassian shot to his feet, knocking over the table and chair. Plates shattered across the floor.

“What kind of joke is this?” His face was livid. “I picked that machine myself. It was designed to prevent accidents. I clearly heard the power cut off when I left. How could anything happen?”

“You must be working with her to scare me, right?”

He sneered and walked out.

“I’ll go see for myself what stunt she’s trying to pull this time.”

When he reached the garage, his men were standing by the chained door, pale and motionless.

“Don’t you people have jobs? Why are you gathered here?”

He ordered them to open the door and walked inside.

A strange, indescribable smell filled the entire room. He frowned.

“What is that smell? Didn’t you clean properly?”

No one dared speak.

Everyone stared in terror at the large industrial steam cabinet sealed with iron chains.

My chest hurt. Even though I couldn’t see the horror inside, the agony of the moment I died still made it hard to breathe.

I sobbed and walked over, wanting to see my poor child.

Cassian approached the steam cabinet with a dark, tense face and lifted his hand to touch it. After one touch, he pulled his hand back.

“Heh.” He actually laughed. “I knew Sera hadn’t changed. She’s still lying. The cabinet is cold. I told you it had a safety valve. It shut off automatically long ago.”

He knocked on the cabinet door and said coldly, “Sera, do you know what you did wrong?”

I smiled bitterly. How could I possibly answer?

Cassian’s face grew uglier and uglier. His hand trembled slightly, but he finally opened the door.

Inside was something covered with white cloth. Its shape was hard to see.

Everyone’s faces changed.

A long time passed before he seemed to gather the courage to reach out and lift the cloth.

“Ah!” Rowena screamed from the garage door. “How could Sera come up with such a disgusting trick to scare people?” She covered her mouth, her voice shaking. “That can’t be her. She must have brought this thing here on purpose.”

Cassian immediately pulled her into his arms. His anger ignited again.

“Using something like this to scare me? All you know how to do is lie. Now you even dare play supernatural mind games? I will not spare you.”

“I was too soft on you. That’s why you thought you could keep lying your way out of punishment. This time, I won’t tolerate you again.”

“Call the police. Tell them Sera stole family business secrets and caused major losses.” His eyes turned dark. “If being locked in a steam cabinet still can’t fix her habit of lying, then let her reform in prison.”

I watched the small bundle beneath the white cloth get carried away in the chaos, and I could no longer see it clearly.

“No!” I screamed until my soul felt torn apart. I threw myself forward, but could only watch it pass through my palms.

I broke down crying, feeling nothing but absurd despair.

My body was right before his eyes. Yet he still chose to believe Rowena’s lie, full of obvious holes. He wouldn’t even give our child the dignity of a proper burial.

This was the man I had loved for so many years. The man I had given everything to protect.

Those who betray a true heart will swallow a hundred blades.

Cassian, you will regret this.

Seeing that no one responded, he roared, “Are you all deaf? Didn’t you hear me? Call the police!”

Marcus pointed with a bloodless face, his finger shaking. “Sir… that really was Madam… and your child.”
