My Mafia Husband Steamed Me and My Child for His Ex-Lover Chapter 05

The Soul of Seraphina’s POV

“Even now, you’re still helping her lie to me?”

Cassian whipped around, pointing at Marcus in fury.

“Figure out who your boss is. It’s me. Helping that bitch gets you nothing.”

“Anyone who dares help her lie to me or scare Rowena can get out of the family.”

As he spoke, he saw everyone’s faces turn terrified, as if they thought he had lost his mind.

Cassian turned around sharply, still angry. “Sera, you’re hiding somewhere, aren’t you? Even now, you’re trying to scare people?”

“I’m truly angry this time. I won’t tolerate you anymore. If you don’t come out and apologize, we’re over. You and that bastard in your belly can go wherever you want.”

I watched Cassian’s eyes slowly widen, then turn confused. Because I was not hiding behind him and playing tricks the way he imagined.

“Sera…? Where are you hiding?”

“Tell me. Where was she hiding just now?” he asked the staff with a frown.

“Madam…” A pale-faced female employee couldn’t bear it and began to cry. Someone tugged at her, trying to stop her, but she burst into sobs.

“I quit. With a boss like you, who killed his wife for a mistress, I don’t dare work here another day.”

She turned and ran. Cassian didn’t stop her. His face only grew uglier.

“This is another stunt Sera planned, isn’t it? Fine. Who else did she buy off? Get out. All of you.”

The crowd scattered at once.

He gritted his teeth. “Sera, your heart is too cruel. You know my family is still rising, yet you incited my people to leave me. Will you only be happy if you watch my family collapse again?”

“You’re the one who did wrong. You’re the one who lied to me and humiliated Rowena. Rowena and I endured you for so long. Why did you force us to this point?”

He shouted, hoping the version of me in his fantasy, the one hiding in the dark to laugh at him, would come out. He still refused to admit that I had already been killed by him.

I watched him quietly and only felt pity.

“Did she promise you something? Whatever she promised, I’ll pay double. Following her is the wrong choice. I’ll blacklist her across the entire East Coast and send her to prison. You won’t get anything by following her.”

His most loyal secretary, Marcus Thorne, finally recovered from his shock and sighed. “Boss, you’re truly insane.”

“I turned the steam cabinet off. It had been running for a full day and night. What safety valve are you talking about? After you turned the temperature to the maximum yesterday, the machine flashed a red warning that said the safety system had failed.”

“You were stubborn. You refused to listen to a single word from us. You forbade us from turning off the heat and locked the door shut. You already killed Madam. What’s the point of saying this now?”

“I don’t know why you’ve decided Madam must have betrayed you and hurt you.” He looked meaningfully at Rowena, whose smug smile was nearly impossible to hide.

“Ask yourself honestly. Back then, for your sake, she gave up a higher-paying, brighter executive position at a multinational corporation and joined our mafia family when it was almost removed from the Commission. She helped you manage a business empire that was nearly in the negative.”

“Later, to secure investment for you, she drank until she was hospitalized multiple times.”

“Even now, after you betrayed her outside, she still tolerated you and waited for you to turn back.”

“She did so much for you. She gave almost everything she had. Why are you so obsessed with believing that she has been lying to you and trying to hurt you and Miss Sable?”

I smiled bitterly in silence.

Even the secretary at his side knew I had nearly burned my life away for him.

Cassian would never know. He had completely lost the person who loved him most in this world.

## Cassian’s POV

The night before I went to the garage to find Sera, I had a dream.

In the dream, Sera stood in a field of white light, holding Gabriel in her arms.

She looked at me with no hatred and no love in her eyes.

“Cassian,” she said, “do you know what I regret most?”

In the dream, I opened my mouth, but no sound came out.

“Not marrying you. It was that on the day you saved me, I didn’t tell you I didn’t need your rescue. I only needed you to believe me.”

She shook her head once. Only once. Then she turned away with the child in her arms.

I woke with a start.

There were two small handprints on my pillow. Like marks left by a child.
