My Mafia Husband Steamed Me and My Child for His Ex-Lover Chapter 01

My Mafia Husband Steamed Me and My Child for His Ex-Lover Chapter 01

[Seraphina’s POV]

When I was eight months pregnant, my husband, the Don of one of the largest mafia families in North America, ordered me to take care of his old flame while she recovered from a miscarriage.

She spilled soup on her own thigh and claimed I had done it on purpose.

Don Cassian Blackwood didn’t listen to my explanation. He had his men lock me inside the industrial steam cabinet in the underground garage.

He said he wanted me to taste what punishment felt like.

“Relying on the fact that you carry my child, you dare to abuse my Rowena?” he said coldly. “If I don’t teach you a lesson, you’ll never learn.”

Inside the steam cabinet, I begged him to let me out for the baby’s sake.

I told him I would never fight Rowena for him again.

He only sneered.

“Don’t use the child to play the victim. I looked it up. A little stress before birth makes the baby healthier.”

“Relax. I won’t abandon you. But however you hurt Rowena, I’ll make you pay.”

To scare me, he turned the temperature up.

Fear triggered my contractions.

The baby came early.

I begged the men outside to take the child to the hospital.

Cassian thought I was pulling another stunt. He ordered them to chain the door shut.

“Without my order, no one lets her out.”

That night, as he fed Rowena dinner, he frowned.

“Sera still won’t admit she was wrong? If she keeps acting tough, who’s going to nurse Rowena back to health?”

“Go tell her I’m giving her one chance. If she kneels and begs Rowena for forgiveness, then prepares Rowena’s meals for the next week, I’ll let her go to the hospital to give birth.”

The enforcers went deathly pale.

No one dared answer.

“Boss…” one of them said, voice shaking. “Madam… she might not make it. She hasn’t responded for a long time.”

“What are you scared of?” Cassian said impatiently. “I know her better than you. She’s the best actress. Once she realized using the baby wouldn’t work, she started playing weak.”

The man lowered his head but still couldn’t hold back. “But we really heard a baby crying inside just now. Very short. Then it stopped.”

“She faked that too.” Cassian waved him off. “That steam cabinet has a smart safety valve. If it detects someone inside, it shuts off automatically. I’m only locking her in there for a while. She’s not that fragile.”

No one dared speak again.

Cassian had dinner brought to the master bedroom.

Inside, Rowena Sable was wearing my silk robe, leaning against my headboard while playing on her phone. From time to time, she smiled sweetly.

“Rowena, what are you looking at? You’re so happy.”

Seeing that she had stopped crying, Cassian’s mood improved.

He sat on the edge of the bed and gently fed her soup.

“Take care of yourself. Only then can I feel at ease.”

Rowena smiled guiltily, then threw herself into his arms as tears streamed down.

“My best friend feels bad for me. She told me to leave you. But whenever I think about how good you were to me, I can’t bear to go…”

“Cassian, it’s all my fault. I couldn’t control my feelings for you. That night when you were drugged, I thought I would give myself to you, then leave alone with the baby and never disturb your happiness again.”

“But the baby is gone. If I lose you too, I really can’t live.”

“I know I’m selfish. No matter how Madam punishes me, I’ll accept it. She only hurt me a little. Even if she did worse, I’d still be willing, as long as you don’t make me leave you.”

Cassian’s heart broke for her.

He held her and comforted her in a low voice.

“Rowena, you’re too kind. You love me so humbly, and that’s why that venomous woman Sera dared to treat you like dirt.”

“You gave everything for me. You saved me again and again. You’re my savior and the woman I love.”

“I won’t allow anyone to bully you. Even if she carries my child and is my wife, she has no right to touch a single finger of yours.”

A trace of unease flashed across Rowena’s face. Then she lowered her head and spoke in a seductive tone.

“Cassian, actually, I didn’t only get hurt there. There are other places… I’m too embarrassed to let a doctor see them.”

Cassian’s eyes darkened. He pulled her into his arms.

Soon, the room was filled only with their intimate whispers.

Enjoy yourself while you can.

The ghost I had become would make the future versions of you regret this moment.

Rowena wore the pajama set Cassian had personally designed for me. She lay on the bedding I had carefully chosen, in my husband’s arms.

In the heat of the moment, she knocked over the framed photo on the nightstand.

It was a photo a stranger had taken for Cassian and me right after we got our marriage license.

We were smiling happily in the photo.

The glass cracked, splitting me and him into two pieces.

A shattered mirror could never be made whole again.

Only a few months ago, I had still imagined that if the baby was born, maybe Cassian might come back to me and our child.

There was no chance now.

Because I was already dead.

It turned out that even as a ghost, my heart could still hurt.

In the middle of the night, Cassian suddenly sat up in bed.

He didn’t know why he had woken.

The shattered photo on the nightstand had somehow been pieced together again.

No, not pieced together.

Sera’s face in the photo had changed.

Her mouth had been smiling.

Now, it looked like she was crying.

“…Sera?”

He reached out to touch it. A shard of glass cut his fingertip.

When he looked again, Sera in the photo was smiling once more.

He must have seen wrong.

What he didn’t know was that my finger was slowly pulling away from the photo.
