My Mafia Husband Steamed Me and My Child for His Ex-Lover Chapter 03

My Mafia Husband Steamed Me and My Child for His Ex-Lover Chapter 03

[The Soul of Seraphina’s POV]

Cassian pulled Rowena into his arms indulgently.

“I’m sorry, Rowena. Back then, Sera lied to me and said she was the one who saved me when I was drugged.”

“I married her because I had to take responsibility. But after all, we are married. I can’t be the kind of man who uses someone and then throws her away.”

“But don’t worry. In the end, she’s the one who owes you too much.”

“After she suffers enough this time, she’ll know her place and never disturb our lives again.”

“Once you recover, you can get pregnant again. The three of us, plus Sera and her child, the five of us can live properly together.”

Shock flashed through Rowena’s eyes.

“What?”

“Relax.” Cassian coaxed her softly. “Sera and I may be husband and wife, but in public, I’ll still be yours. Just think of it as gaining a nanny to clean the house and cook for you. Our child will gain a playmate too.”

Rowena forced a smile.

“Okay. I’ll do whatever you say. I’ll get along with her.”

I only found it ridiculous.

Even now, he still refused to let me go.

He still thought I would continue to tolerate him and Rowena crossing every line, even lowering myself enough to become their nanny.

I took a deep breath.

As a soul, all I could do was watch my tears vanish into air.

I knew why he was so certain.

Because I had always endured in silence.

A month ago, Rowena suddenly fainted at my front door.

I took her to the hospital. But when she woke up, she cried to Cassian and said I had pushed her down, causing her miscarriage.

I hurried to explain that it hadn’t been me. I had only taken her to the hospital.

Cassian only looked at me coldly.

When I saw he didn’t believe me, I took out the medical record to show him. The record clearly stated that the baby had already been gone before I even found her.

But as soon as Rowena cried, Cassian pushed me to the floor.

“Enough! You’ve gone too far! Rowena already said she forgives you. Why won’t you admit it?”

He had his bodyguards take me home and lock me up.

I had naively thought that the next time I saw him, once his anger faded, maybe he would listen to my explanation.

But after half a month of confinement, there was only enemy-like disgust in his eyes when he looked at me.

At the time, I didn’t understand why it had become like that.

I still held on to a little hope. Maybe once the baby was born, he would change his mind.

Now I finally knew the reason.

Because of what happened a year ago.

A year earlier, Cassian’s family had faced a major crisis. They had nearly been removed from the North American Mafia Commission.

At the same time, Rowena took all the money and left without a word.

Cassian suffered two blows at once and never recovered. He locked himself in his room every day.

I was frantic with worry.

I searched everywhere for allied families willing to help.

Day after day, I drank until I was hospitalized. Finally, I secured a major deal that could revive his family business.

I rushed into Cassian’s room and begged him on my knees to remember how driven and unstoppable he used to be, to give himself one more chance.

I moved him. He came with me and closed that partnership.

But that night, the woman brought by the rival family’s boss took an interest in Cassian. She secretly drugged him.

On one hand, I was terrified that if the boss discovered what had happened, he would cancel the deal, so I urgently used my personal resources to clean up the fallout. On the other hand, my heart ached for Cassian as the drug took hold.

I claimed to be Cassian’s girlfriend and took him to a hotel room. That night, we slept together.

When I woke, I was afraid he wouldn’t accept it. I was afraid my identity as his savior would become a burden. I was even more afraid he would avoid me, so I ran away in panic.

Three months later, when I found out I was pregnant, I finally confessed everything to him, shy and terrified.

He looked at me with complicated eyes and stayed silent for a long time. So long that I thought he wouldn’t take responsibility.

Then he suddenly let out a breath and smiled, pulling me into his arms.

“Sera, maybe you’re the angel God sent to save me. You gave me the chance to start a new life.”

I cried and laughed, then laughed and cried.

I cried because I was pitiful. I laughed because I was pathetic.

So my night with him had been twisted by Rowena during the half month I was locked away.

Rowena claimed she was the one who had given herself to Cassian and left while pregnant. And I was the vicious woman carrying another man’s bastard, pretending to be her.

No wonder Cassian looked at me with such disgust.

“Boss, it’s been a full day and night. Something really bad might happen…” Marcus said uneasily.

“What are you talking about?” Cassian still sounded the same. “That steam cabinet has a smart accident-prevention system. It shuts off automatically when it detects someone inside. I was only scaring her.”

Marcus’s face was white. “But… but the machine never stopped.”

“Enough!” Cassian slammed down his knife and fork in fury. “Did Sera send you to lie for her again? Beg for her one more time, and I’ll keep her in there for two extra days.”

Marcus fell silent.

Rowena spoke weakly. “Maybe we should just let it go. If she stays locked up any longer, Madam will definitely hate me.”

“I didn’t mean Madam would hurt me. After all, I deserve it. If Madam hates me and wants to take it out on me, that’s only fair…”

Seeing that she was about to cry again, Cassian pulled her into his arms.

“Rowena, Sera scared you this badly. She deserves to be punished. You’re the woman I love, and you’re my savior. I won’t allow anyone to bully you.”

I slowly nodded.

Yes.

I won’t let you go.

The TV in the living room suddenly turned on by itself.

On the screen, I sat before a white background. My belly was huge, obviously recorded late in pregnancy.

“Cassian, if you’re watching this video, it means I’m already dead.”

My voice was calm.

“Rowena Sable never saved your family. That investment came from me selling my house and liquidating my assets. The sender was A. Holloway. You can check.”

“That night was me too. She was never there.”

“You chose to believe a liar and killed the only person who loved you.”

At the end of the video, I smiled softly.

“By the way, this video has been sent to The Boston Globe, the FBI Organized Crime Division, and your biggest rival, the Sullivan family.”

“Good luck, Cassian.”

The screen went black.

Rowena’s face turned deathly pale.

The glass in Cassian’s hand shattered to the floor.
