Revenge Is the Best Wedding Gift Chapter 05

Soon, the sound of passionate kissing echoed in the hallway just one wall away.

Victoria’s affected moans even penetrated through the wall to my ears:

“You’re so bad, making Lavinia listen to us make love next door.”

“You think that’s bad? There’s even wilder stuff—want to experience it…”

I covered my ears tightly.

But the sounds still leaked through my fingers.

Cold seeped thread by thread into my heart, making me curl up on the floor in pain.

My brain became like a chaotic battlefield.

One moment flashing with Rafe’s former care for me—his passionate promises, his warm smiles.

The next moment uncontrollably following the sounds next door, imagining the disgusting scene of him and Victoria naked and entwined in bed.

My head hurt terribly. I frantically pulled antidepressants from my clothes, stuffing them in my mouth one by one.

I don’t know how much time passed before Rafe opened the door wrapped in a bathrobe, looking down at me condescendingly:

“Can’t handle it already? How are you going to get through the next whole year?”

Behind him, Victoria with kiss marks all over her neck let out a satisfied giggle: “Rafe, you’re not feeling sorry for her, are you?”

Rafe’s eyes flickered, but he still let out a cold laugh.

“How could that be possible?”

“I married her purely to make her taste what it felt like when I was abandoned. How could I possibly feel sorry for second-hand goods?”

I looked up in shock.

Suffocating despair washed over me like a tide.

It was all fake—there was never any redemption, no love. This was a malicious revenge designed specifically for me from the very beginning.

When human emotions collapse to the extreme, they can actually explode with a kind of crazy strength. I suddenly sprang up from the floor and slapped Rafe hard across the face.

The crisp sound of the slap echoed in the quiet room, stunning all three people at the door.

After a few seconds of shock, Rafe exploded in fury.

“You dare hit me? Lavinia, you must be tired of living!”

Having reached the extreme of heartbreak, I no longer felt afraid.

I laughed hysterically.

“Didn’t you and she bet that I’d slap you when I found out you cheated? I’m satisfying you now—what are you going crazy about?”

I laughed until tears came out, my voice getting louder: “But if it were Nicholas cheating, I would never hit him, because I couldn’t bear to touch a single hair on his head. As for you—you’re just filthy.”

As my words fell, Rafe’s face instantly darkened like the bottom of a pot.

He stared at me for a long time, then suddenly smiled with rage.

“Trying to provoke me on purpose?”

“Then I’ll fulfill your wish.”

Rafe stepped back, and the guest room door slowly closed before my eyes again.

This time, I didn’t lunge forward to stop it.

Instead, like a soulless puppet, I stepped back to the bed step by step.

When those disgusting sounds came from next door again, I piled all the blankets and pillows from the bed high.

I stepped on them and pushed open the glass skylight that Rafe had once custom-made to heal me, climbing bit by bit from the window onto the villa’s roof.

The night wind was fierce. With every step, it was like a demon whispering in my ear.

“Jump down. Rafe doesn’t love you at all—he’s doing this only for revenge. You’re unwanted trash. Only death can bring true liberation.”

When the voice in my head faded, I smiled and spread my arms, leaping from the rooftop.

This time, it was my body that fell like a kite with a broken string, plummeting rapidly past Rafe’s master bedroom window.

“Lavinia, no!”

In the room, Rafe’s eyes widened as he let out a heart-wrenching roar, rushing toward the window like a madman.
