After the misunderstanding was cleared up, Xavier’s temper 

genuinely improved. 

A little. 

He was still weirdly possessive though. 

Especially whenever he caught me being affectionate with 

Adrian. 

Every single time, he’d start making passive–aggressive 

comments from the sidelines like a jealous cat with anger 

issues. 

Didn’t matter that Adrian was literally his twin brother. 

Xavier still got territorial. 

Thankfully, one slap upside the head was usually enough to 

shut him up. 

For a while, life settled into a surprisingly comfortable 

rhythm. 

Three people. 

Three meals a day. 

Way too much chaos in one apartment. 

But somehow… it worked. 

Until everything blew up. 

I’d been away on a business trip for a week. 

When I landed, I was actually debating which of them I should hug first so nobody would accuse me of favoritism. 

But when I walked out of the airport, only Adrian was there waiting for me. 

The second I saw him alone, a bad feeling twisted in my 

stomach. 

“Where’s Xavier?” 

Adrian’s expression darkened. 

“He got into a fight. The Bureau of Supernatural Affairs took 

him.” 

I’d heard of the Bureau before. 

They specialized in dealing with dangerous supernatural entities, especially demons with violent records. 

But Xavier wasn’t… 

As memories from the past few months flashed through my 

mind, an awful suspicion slowly formed. 

When I spoke again, my throat felt tight. 

“Why would they take him?” 

Adrian kept his eyes on the road as he explained. 

“Last night, the boxing gym had a team dinner. A group of guys started harassing a teenage girl outside the restaurant. Xavier and the others stepped in.” 

“They drove the guys off and went to the police station to give 

statements afterward. Everyone else got released.” 

“But Xavier was transferred to the Bureau.” 

Adrian went quiet for several seconds before finally sighing. 

“I can’t hide it anymore.” 

“He’s a demon.” 

The words hit me like a brick. 

Apparently, demons were treated differently under 

supernatural law. It didn’t matter why they fought. 

The moment a demon became involved in violence, 

authorities classified it as a severe threat. 

That was why Xavier had been taken. 

“I’m sorry, Master,” Adrian said quietly. “We lied to you.” 

“One in every thousand incubi births results in twins. But 

twins are… different.” 

“I’m an incubus.” 

“And Xavier was born a demon.” 

Even though I’d already suspected it, hearing Adrian confirm it out loud nearly gave me a migraine. 

What kind of cursed online shopping experience was this? 

Who buys one incubus and accidentally gets a bonus demon? 

I rubbed my temples from the passenger seat while Adrian continued driving. 

“Twin–born supernatural creatures are connected at the soul level,” he explained. “Even if they’re completely different 

species and personalities, their life forces are intertwined. If 

one dies, the other dies too.” 

“Demons are naturally unstable. Even after forming a Bond 

with a human, there’s always a risk the owner will abandon 

them if they become uncontrollable.” 

“And once a demon is abandoned, the Bureau automatically 

classifies them as defective threats and executes them.” 

“If Xavier dies, I die too.” 

I slowly turned to stare at him. 

“That’s why twin–born pairs almost always Bond to the same 

human,” Adrian continued softly. 

“Once a demon forms a Bond, the human connection 

suppresses some of their violent instincts. And if their incubus 

twin stays nearby, they can help keep the demon under 

control too.” 

“The two restraints together usually stabilize them.” 

“That’s why twins can’t be separated.” 

“But very few humans are willing to Bond with twin pairs, 

especially when one of them is a demon. Most stores won’t 

even list them because of the legal risks.” 

“If a demon reaches adulthood without forming a Bond, the Bureau confiscates and destroys them anyway.” 

His voice dropped lower. 

“That’s why I opened the online shop myself.” 

“I discounted us heavily and manipulated the listing so you’d 

buy us.” 

I stared at him. 

“So the shady seller was you two?” 

Adrian nodded silently. 

“And buying you online was part of the Bond process?” 

Jesus Christ. 

There really was no such thing as a free lunch. 

If something looked too good to be true, it was either a scam or a supernatural trap. 

Adrian gripped the steering wheel tighter. 

“I needed a Bond because incubi have to feed.” 

“Xavier needed a Bond because demons require external 

restraint once they come of age.” 

“So I lied about the buy–one–get–one deal.” 

“I’m sorry.” 

His voice turned low and desperate. 

“I’ve been teaching Xavier how to behave. His personality is 

awful, and at first he wanted to force–feed without your 

consent.” 

“But I stopped him.” 

“I warned him constantly not to hurt you. Not to cross the 

line.” 

“Please believe me, Master. I can control him.” 

“He’s getting better.” 

“I was planning to wait until his behavior improved before telling you the truth. I thought it would make things easier for you to accept.” 

“Because I knew that even if you couldn’t return him… if you decided you didn’t want him anymore, the Bureau would still dispose of him.” 

“But things got out of hand before we could explain and now 

he…” 

Suddenly, Adrian stiffened violently. 

His entire body convulsed like he’d been electrocuted. 

The steering wheel nearly slipped out of his hands. 

“Adrian!” 

Grinding his teeth, he slammed the brakes and pulled the car safely onto the shoulder. 

A few seconds later, the tremors finally stopped, leaving him 

pale and shaking. 

“I’m okay,” he said weakly. 

Then he forced out a strained smile. 

“Xavier and I are linked. I can feel when something’s 

happening to him.” 

The incident had started shortly after my flight took off. 

An international flight lasted over ten hours. 

By the time I landed, it was already the next day. 

Which meant the Bureau had probably started interrogating 

Xavier hours ago. 

And judging from Adrian’s condition… 

Their version of interrogation involved torture. 

When I didn’t speak immediately, Adrian’s expression 

dimmed. 

“You don’t have to save him,” he said quietly. “We deceived you first.” 

I frowned. 

“Adrian, I’m not angry.” 

“I’m thinking.” 

“If Xavier already formed a Bond with us, the Bureau 

shouldn’t be allowed to torture him without notifying family 

first.” 

Especially not after he got arrested for helping someone. 

He protected a girl from getting assaulted. 

How the hell was that grounds for torture? 

Adrian shook his head. 

“The Bureau regulates demons very aggressively. Forming a 

Bond isn’t enough. The Bond has to be officially registered 

with them.” 

“You didn’t know Xavier was a demon yet, so we never filed 

the paperwork.” 

“If he wasn’t registered, they probably classified him as a feral 

demon.” 

His expression hardened bitterly. 

“Demons are valuable.” 

“Alive, they’re considered dangerous to society.” 

“But dead?” 

“Their organs sell for a fortune. Even their bones are used in alchemy and pharmaceutical rituals.” 

I went still. 

So the Bureau had ulterior motives. 

If nobody claimed Xavier quickly enough, they could legally carve him up for profit before anyone intervened. 

And in their eyes, demons were born evil anyway. 

Killing one was practically considered public service. 

My blood pressure skyrocketed. 

Absolute bullshit. 

Without another word, I switched seats with Adrian. 

Then I floored the accelerator. 

Less than thirty minutes later, we arrived at the Bureau of 

Supernatural Affairs.
