As I spotted Brittany and Nathan standing in the crowd, I was briefly surprised.

I had not expected them to show up today.

Clearly, they were here to stir up trouble.

My face turned cold as I said, “You know lying like that can land you back in jail, right?”

“What?”

“You two just got out. Trying to get locked up again already?”

Benedict immediately stepped forward and stood in front of me.

“Who do you think you are?” he snapped.

“Who told you it was okay to crash my engagement party and cause drama?”

He turned to the security guards nearby. “Throw them out. Now.”

At his order, the guards quickly surrounded Brittany and Nathan.

From the looks on their faces, they had not expected Benedict to defend me so strongly.

Still, Nathan tried to push forward and shouted, “Mr. White, I did all this for you!”

“Are you really going to marry a murderer?”

“Exactly, Mr. White!” Brittany added.

“Leilani’s not who you think she is! She’s evil!”

As they kept pushing their story, someone in the crowd called out, “Mr. White, maybe let them speak. If she’s innocent, she should be able to prove it.”

With someone backing them up, Nathan and Brittany looked like they had gained some confidence.

They broke away from the guards and rushed toward us.

“Didn’t think I’d get out so fast, did you?” Nathan said, smirking at me.

“Lani, how could you be so heartless? You framed us for money, and I was supposed to be your best friend!”

Brittany was full of anger.

“You know what it’s like in jail? It’s not livable for anyone!”

Her emotions spiraled, and she suddenly lunged at me with her hand raised.

However, Benedict caught her wrist just in time.

“What do you think you’re doing?” he said coldly. “Trying to hit my fiancée? You’re looking for trouble.”

He shoved her arm away, and Brittany stumbled and hit the ground.

Nathan rushed to her. “Brit, are you okay?”

He helped her up and glared at Benedict. “Mr. White, we came here to warn you about Leilani. How could you attack my girlfriend when we’re just trying to help?”

“I know my fiancée better than anyone. I don’t need outsiders telling me who she is,” Benedict said firmly, wrapping an arm around my shoulder.

Nathan’s face twisted in frustration.

“Do you even realize what kind of person you’re marrying?” he sneered. “She killed her own sister for money and set up her boyfriend and best friend to go to jail!”

Brittany jumped in, clearly angry. “Mr. White, she’s known for a long time that those kids were yours. You think she’s all sweet and innocent, but it’s just an act to reel you in!”

After that, the mood in the room shifted.

Some of the guests started whispering, their expressions growing doubtful. “You never know what people are really like. Maybe they’re telling the truth.”

“With all the money Mr. White has, how could she not be after it?”

“No woman would volunteer to raise five kids unless there was something in it for her!”

Their murmuring fed Brittany and Nathan’s confidence.

You could see it on their smug faces as they stood there soaking it all in.

I stayed calm. Then I slowly turned to look at Benedict and asked quietly, “So, what about you?”

“Do you believe them-or me?”
