While She Buried Her Grandfather, He Was Walking Down The Aisle Chapter 03

While She Buried Her Grandfather, He Was Walking Down The Aisle Chapter 03

My parents went home before Grandpa’s funeral was even over.

I sat alone on the hospital bed, quiet.

I wondered whom Liam would choose.

I guess, even if he didn’t love me, we’d grown up together. There had to be some bond.

But he didn’t come. There’re a group of masked doctors instead.

I frowned. “Who are you? Why are you here?”

No one answered.

The cold needle went into my vein. Right before I blacked out, I heard someone say, “Mr. Vance’s orders.”

I woke up to the sound of people talking.

“What a pity. So young, and they took her uterus. She’ll never have kids now.”

“That big shot in L.A. is way too cruel to his little bird.”

I opened my eyes, my gaze blank.

“Are you talking about Liam Vance?”

The nurses realized I was awake. Their faces changed, and they hurried out.

My hand shook as I touched my empty stomach.

The baby was gone. I’d never be a mother.

Liam really was heartless.

Tears rolled down my cheeks, one after another.

The door opened. My parents walked in.

I broke down. I threw myself into my mother’s arms and sobbed.

“Mom, why? Why did he do this to me?”

I’d been with him from nothing.

When we first got to L.A., we had no money. We rented a tiny room, maybe a hundred square feet.

I worked as a waitress every day. Every dollar I earned went to buying him food of high quality.

I ate one loaf of bread.

Later, he started a company.

I was the one who drank until my stomach bled during a business deal in winter, just to land the project that really mattered to him.

Now we lived in a hillside villa. We never had to bow to anyone again.

I thought I’d made it. So why did it end like this?

The door opened. Liam walked in with Natalie.

He glanced at me, then looked away like I was garbage.

It was Natalie who spoke. “Ava, Liam just thinks of you as a little sister. Don’t get the wrong idea.”

“Now that we’re married, your baby came at a really bad time. Don’t blame Liam.”

Little sister?

Does a brother get his sister pregnant?

Did everything I did for him mean nothing?

I stared at Liam. “So you chose her?”

He avoided my eyes. “I’ve always loved Natalie.”

“I’ll give you some money. Consider it compensation for all these years.”

My dad couldn’t take it anymore.

He stepped forward and slapped Liam across the face.

“I watched you grow up. This is how you treat my daughter?”

He raised his fist for another punch.

Natalie jumped in front of him.

The fist landed on her. She screamed and slid to the ground.

Liam’s eyes went wide. He scooped her up.

Natalie’s voice was weak. “Liam…baby, our baby.”

Liam glared at us. “If anything happens to Natalie’s child, I’ll make you pay.”

The door slammed shut.

My dad came over and ruffled my hair. “Ava, don’t worry. Daddy will protect you.”

I leaned against my mom.

I felt the warmth, but my heart stayed cold.

This wasn’t going to blow over.
