Was Nova’s relationship with her family that bad? 

Why would she voluntarily sever ties with her parents? 

But seeing how attentive Orion and Isadora usually were to Selene, Zephyr was confused. 

His fingers brushed the audio tape. It looked familiar. 

He remembered Nova trying to give him this tape, asking him to listen. But he had thought she was just being difficult. 

So he hadn’t wanted to listen. 

Now that she had given it to him, Zephyr felt an urge to hear 

what was on it. 

He found a computer and inserted the tape. 

After a burst of static… 

A man’s voice began reading a story. The smooth, melodic 

tone made his heart skip a beat. 

Because the voice on the tape telling the story was none other 

than his own. 

This was a story Zephyr had told Selene back when he was blind. Why did Nova have it? 

Could it be that the person with him wasn’t Selene at all, but 

Nova? 

Or had she stolen something from Selene again? 

Zephyr immediately pulled out his phone to call Nova and ask, 

but the number didn’t connect. 

So he took the tape and went to find Selene, determined to get 

the truth. 

Since she claimed so confidently that she was the one, she must know something. 

Zephyr pulled Selene, who was in the middle of toasting guests, backstage. “Selene, are you really the one who was with me all that time?” 

His grip on her hand was so tight she couldn’t pull away. 

“Zephyr, what’s wrong with you? Why are you asking this all 

of a sudden?” 

“Of course it was me. Who else could love you this much?” 

“What’s going on? You’ve been distracted all day.” 

Her tone was impatient. 

“Do you remember the story I told you?” Zephyr asked 

quietly. 

“Remember, of course I remember. It’s just been a long time, 

so the details are fuzzy.” Selene avoided his eyes. 

Her nervousness and panic. He saw it all clearly. 

Even if he hadn’t wanted to understand before, he understood 

now. Selene was a fake. 

Nova was the one he had been looking for all this time. 

Zephyr looked at her coldly, not saying another word. 

Only then did Selene realize she had probably said something wrong. She quickly explained, “I didn’t mean to forget the stories you told. I’ve just been so busy with wedding 

preparations.” 

“Zephyr, don’t be mad. After we’re married, you can tell them to me again, okay?” 

She took his sleeve and shook it gently. 

Zephyr looked at her face up close and felt only disgust. “Selene! You’re still lying to me, aren’t you?” 

“You’re not the one who was with me!” 

He pulled his hand away abruptly. Caught off guard, Selene 

stumbled backward and fell down the small set of stairs. 

Her dress tore. She got scrapes and bruises all over. 

Ignoring the pain, she frantically covered her face with her 

hands, terrified. 

She wanted to chase after Zephyr and explain, but he strode onto the stage and grabbed the microphone. 

“Everyone, the Mating Ceremony is cancelled as of now.” 

“Selene is not the mate I was looking for.” 

Then he turned and strode out of the ceremony hall. 

Zephyr hadn’t gone far when he ran into Orion and Isadora. 

“What’s wrong, Zephyr? Where are you going? Isn’t it time for toasts?” 

Zephyr looked at the clueless couple and threw the box at their 

feet. 

Remembering how they had conspired with Selene to deceive 

him filled him with rage. 

“The ceremony is cancelled. You know exactly why. I won’t 

forget what the Ravencrest Pack did.”
