Rejected by My Destined Mate, Now He Craves Me Chapter 09

Rejected by My Destined Mate, Now He Craves Me Chapter 09

Much later, I remembered something Zephyr once said.

Back when he was blind, he gently touched my wrist and said

my eyes must be very beautiful.

I asked him, “What if you see me later and realize I’m not that pretty?”

He laughed and said, “No matter what you look like, I’ll think

you’re the most beautiful.”

His voice was so sincere back then. So sincere that I almost

believed in the idea of a “future.”

And I did imagine a future.

Marrying him. Having a home. Never being lonely again.

But then everything stopped, derailed by a misunderstanding.

Looking at these photos now, I still feel a slight ache.

But only for a second. And it passes quickly.

Some things, if they aren’t yours, they just aren’t yours.

Meanwhile, at the Mooncrest Pack’s altar, the Mating

Ceremony was about to begin.

A little boy carrying a glass of grape juice suddenly bumped

into Selene.

Purple juice splashed all over her wedding dress.

She shrieked. “My dress!”

“Who let him in? Take this child away!”

Zephyr hurried over. He was about to calm her down.

But the moment he saw her expression, he froze.

For a second, something felt off.

But the next second, Selene had already resumed her gentle demeanor. “It’s okay, just an accident. I’ll go change.”

She smiled at him. A completely different expression.

Zephyr nodded, but he couldn’t quite relax. That feeling of

something being ‘different‘ returned.

He even briefly thought of Nova. The thought made him

frown.

She was gone. He shouldn’t be thinking about her.

But then, the image from that day, her handing him the box, calling him ‘brother–in–law,‘ suddenly became very clear.

He turned and went to the parking lot. He found his car and searched the back seat.

The box wasn’t there.

He called over a beta, his voice colder than usual. “Where’s the box I gave you this morning?”

“The one Nova gave you?” Seeing Zephyr’s sudden question, the beta hesitated.

Zephyr’s brow furrowed deeply. “What’s wrong? Can’t you even take care of one item?”

“Alpha Zephyr, Selene said it probably wasn’t worth anything and told me to throw it in the trash.”

“What?” Zephyr was irritated. “Do you remember where you

threw it? Find it. Now.”

“Yes, Alpha. Right away.”

The beta said and immediately left.

Watching him go, Zephyr felt a strange sense of unease.

Ten minutes later, the beta rushed back with the box. Just as he was about to hand it over, Selene appeared.

The beta wisely moved away, holding the box.

“Zephyr, why did you run off? I just came out of the dressing room and couldn’t find you.”

“This is my new dress. Do you like it?”

Selene twirled. The purple, long, trailing wedding dress

sparkled in the light.

But Zephyr’s eyes darkened.

Because he clearly remembered her saying she didn’t like purple. So why choose a purple gown for the Mating Ceremony?

More and more questions swirled in his mind. His thoughts became a tangled mess.

“It’s beautiful. The color suits you.” Zephyr smiled, but it

didn’t reach his eyes.

Selene, however, noticed nothing wrong. She was still

admiring her dress.

The sound of a harp filled the air. The pack’s elder slowly took the stage and began the classic opening remarks.

When he started introducing the bride and groom, Selene

looked hopeful, but Zephyr’s eyes were blank.

He led Selene onto the stage, holding her hand. But in a daze, he realized the face appearing in his mind was Nova’s.

He stood there, unable to move.

“Zephyr? What’s wrong?”

“Zephyr!”

Selene called him several times, but he didn’t react.

Frustrated and annoyed, she glanced at the guests who were starting to murmur. The pack elder was frantically trying to smooth things over.

Out of desperation, Selene gently nudged Zephyr’s arm.

He snapped back to reality.

Seeing this, the pack elder quickly said the groom must be exhausted from wedding preparations, asking everyone for understanding.

Though some guests were still curious, they held their tongues.

After all, it was the middle of the Mating Ceremony.

Backstage, Zephyr’s beta immediately handed him the box.

Zephyr carefully unlatched the box. Inside was a small audio tape and a legal declaration severing her ties with her parents.

Looking at the bold signature on the document, he froze.
