2 Million? No, Just 200! So I Fled With My Twins Chapter 11

After that day, Corin threw himself into the business harder than ever. Before, he had only dared to help out

on the side. Now he started planning how to turn the food truck into a real restaurant.

Working out of an open-air food truck plaza meant wind and sun every day, he said, and any big storm shut

the business down. It was hard on the kids too.

He hired food consultants to standardize the marinade and sauce recipes, and he lined up a licensed

commercial kitchen to cut and marinate all the chicken, so every skewer tasted exactly the same.

He handled the permits and trademark registration, making sure I retained ownership and control of the

business.

At first, I told him he was making a big deal out of nothing. It was one little food truck, for crying out loud. He

didn’t argue. He kept moving things forward, one step at a time.

The first location opened in the River Bend Food Hall. It was clean and bright, with a real kitchen and indoor seating, a huge step up from the open-air plaza. Business exploded on opening day, and the line wrapped halfway down the block.

Corin split his days between the company and the restaurant and never once complained. The minute he got off work, he headed to the shop, pulled on a plain uniform and grilled skewers and bused tables alongside

the staff.

The staff were stiff around him at first, but they got used to him. Before long, they were teasing him and

calling him the best skewer-grilling CEO in town.

When the twins got back from preschool, they sat at a corner table in the shop, coloring and practicing

writing their names.

Once they were done, they followed Corin everywhere. Whenever he had a free minute, he told them funny

stories from the office or played guessing games with them.

Customers often posted videos of the three of them online. Nobody would have guessed, they said, that the

richest Alpha around would be wearing an apron, grilling skewers and playing with his two pups.

After most of a year like that, the second location opened without a hitch.

That night, after closing, Corin locked up and walked home with me. The twins had worn themselves out, so he carried one in each arm, his steps steady.

“Morgana, look. The restaurants are up and running, and the kids are getting bigger. What if we… got the marriage license at city hall again? You’d be my Luna one more time. What do you say?”

I kept walking.

I had watched everything he did over most of a year. His sharp edges had worn down, and his temper had evened out. The hurt had been real. But nobody could live in the past forever, and he had truly changed.

“Okay.”

He stopped dead, his eyes going wide. “What did you say? Say that again.”

I laughed. “I said okay. What, you don’t want to? Fine. Forget I said anything.”

“Yes! Of course I want to!” There was a spring in his step now. “I’ll call city hall first thing tomorrow. Pick any day you like, and we’ll bring the kids.”

The day we got our marriage license at city hall again and renewed our mate vows, Eleanor was over the moon. She held on to my hand and wouldn’t let go.

I finally reopened the mind link to Corin that had been closed for so long. My wolf didn’t rush toward him. She listened quietly as his careful answer came through from the other end.

Eleanor unpinned her silver wolf brooch and pressed it into my palm. “This has passed from Luna to Luna in the Nightshade family for three generations. I wronged you before, and I’m sorry. From now on, we’re family, and we’re going to be happy.”

I helped her into a chair and nodded. “What’s done is done. All that matters is what comes next.”

Later, people asked me how I could forgive him after hating him so much. I couldn’t point to one exact moment. All I knew was that what I had right then was enough.
