2 Million? No, Just 200! So I Fled With My Twins Chapter 10

Once the Nightstalker Group was back on its feet, Corin couldn’t shake his suspicions.

Those suppliers were all old, established names. The Nightstalker Group had approached them several

times before and gotten nowhere. This time, they had come around on their own, and with unusually

generous terms.

Corin invited one of their bosses to dinner. After a few drinks, the supplier clapped him on the shoulder. “Alpha, we didn’t sign on because of who you are. Morgana asked us herself, and we trust her.”

Corin was stunned.

Back at the office, he combed through purchasing’s emails. The anonymous account used a fake name, and at first it meant nothing to him. Then he spotted the contact number in the signature. It was my old work

phone from years ago.

He knew me well enough to realize I wouldn’t have told him I’d helped. Guilt and gratitude churned together inside him, and for the first time in his thirty-some years, he saw what a jerk he had been.

Not long after that, my birthday came around. I opened up as usual, but I had barely raised the service window and set up the grill when I noticed that the whole plaza looked different.

Strings of warm yellow lights hung along the curb, and the plaza management staff were bustling back and

forth.

During the evening rush, Corin came over and took the seasoning shaker out of my hand. “Take a break. I’ll

grill a few.”

I rolled my eyes at him. “Don’t you dare burn them again. It’s packed today.”

He smiled and didn’t answer. He walked around to the front of the truck and picked up a wireless mic he had borrowed from the management office. The regulars and vendors already had their eyes on him, and now

everyone turned to look.

“Hey, everybody. Neighbors, regulars, can I steal a couple minutes of your time?”

“First off, thank you. I’ve been hanging around here every day for most of a year, getting in Morgana’s way

and probably yours too. I appreciate you putting up with me.”

He took off his cap and dipped his head to everyone around him, and people laughed.

He straightened up and turned to me. “Second, I owe Morgana an apology.”

“Three years ago, I trusted the wrong person and believed her lies. I did a lot of rotten things, and Morgana

and the kids paid the price.”

“I know sorry doesn’t count for much. But I still want to say it, and mean it. I’m sorry.”

When he finished, he slowly bowed low before me. An Alpha had lowered his head in public and bared the

back of his neck. My wolf went quiet, as if she was sizing up the wolf who had once broken our heart.

The crowd went silent for a few seconds before people started clapping. Corin pulled a stack of papers out

of his bag.

“These papers sign over a thirty-five percent stake in the company to her, plus a house for her and the kids. My lawyer drew them up, and I’ve signed. All Morgana has to do is say yes.”

“I used to think money could fix anything. Now I know the person I should have treasured most is the one I pushed away with my own two hands.”

He set the papers down, lifted his head and looked at me. “Morgana, I know you haven’t forgiven me yet.”

“I’m not asking you to agree to anything right now. All I want is a chance to spend the rest of my life making it up to you and giving you and the kids a safe, steady home.”

“Will you give me another shot?”

The crowd went wild, and the vendors started whooping and cheering him on.

Dorian and Isolde ran over from their little table, and each of them grabbed one of my hands and swung it

back and forth.

“Mommy, Daddy said sorry. Forgive him, okay?”

“Mommy, Daddy brings me cookies, and he draws with me and helps me write my name. Please say yes.”

I looked at Corin. His eyes were nervous and uncertain. “If you want me to forgive you, it’s going to take a

heck of a lot more than a stack of paperwork.”

Corin’s eyes lit up, and he nodded over and over. “Okay, okay! We’ll do it your way. I can wait as long as it

takes.”
