You Want Me Back? Sorry, Request Rejected Chapter 09

Elise had asked a nurse to help change the 

munchkin’s IV drip. Half–awake, the munchkin had 

mistaken Elise for someone else and grabbed her 

hand, calling her “Mommy“. 

“Thanks, Izzy.” Elise took the tissue that the little 

girl, Isabel Steele, kindly offered. For the first time in days, she showed a genuine smile. 

Isabel suddenly clapped a hand over her mouth. ” Oh my gosh. Pretty lady, you look like a glowing fairy when you smile. You have to smile more!” 

Elise’s smile widened because of her pure, earnest 

compliment. 

“Too bad Daddy already has Mommy.” Isabel shook 

her head and sighed dramatically. Then, something 

seemed to occur to her, and her eyes lit up. “How 

about you marry my uncle instead? He doesn’t have 

a wife yet!” 

Elise couldn’t help laughing, her eyes crinkling as 

she used a small comb to smooth Isabel’s hair. ” 

Izzy, I’m already married.” 

Isabel’s face fell. “Huh? You’re married? Well, you’re 

so pretty. Of course you have a husband. But why 

isn’t he here to see you? When Mommy was sick, 

Daddy stayed by her bedside all night and watched 

her.” 

isabel had returned to the country on short notice. 

Her body hadn’t adjusted well to the change, so 

she’d been admitted to the hospital. Since her parents hadn’t had time to fly over yet, they’d 

thrown the responsibility of taking care of her onto 

her uncle. 

The problem was, her unreliable dad hadn’t even 

known that her uncle was still away on a business 

trip. Her grandfather had brought her dinner last night, hired a caregiver to stay with her, then 

hurried back home to watch over his precious 

flowers and plants. 

Elise’s smile faded. Regina’s words from earlier 

echoed in her mind. 

Last night, Calvin had stayed by Sabrina’s bedside 

the entire night. That one phone call he’d made to 

Elise was probably just to lay blame on her. 

Isabel blinked and obediently let Elise stroke her hair. She seemed upset again. Was it because of 

her husband? 

In the VIP ward, Rowan and Regina arrived early in the morning to visit Sabrina. It had been too late 

last night, so Calvin hadn’t allowed them to come.

“Mommy’s too much. I called her, and she refused to admit she was wrong! She even blamed you for wearing her clothes!” Regina slumped by Sabrina’s bedside, carefully tugging at the corner of Sabrina’s hospital gown, fuming. 

Out of the corner of her eye, Sabrina saw Calvin come back into the room from the balcony after ending a call. The corners of her lips curved upward in an almost imperceptible smirk as she said, “Gina, your Aunt Candace said she saw your mommy out with some guy last night. She was probably just busy. She didn’t mean to say those things.” 

“Busy?” Calvin’s voice was ice–cold, and the chill 

radiating off him was enough to make the entire 

room drop several degrees. That single word was 

ground out between clenched teeth. 

So, Elise hadn’t answered his call because she’d 

been with another man. 

Perfect. Just perfect. 

A flash of panic crossed Sabrina’s face. “Calvin, 

Candace only saw them by chance. Maybe there’s 

some kind of misunderstanding…” 

Her voice grew smaller. 

Calvin’s expression darkened. Without another 

word, he strode out of the room, anger simmering 

just beneath the surface. He called Elise’s number 

again. The call rang for a while before it was finally 

picked up. 

“Where are you?” he demanded. 

“At the hospital,” she replied. 

He frowned and let out a mirthless laugh. He figured Regina must’ve told her when she called her earlier. “Oh, so you do remember that you need to show up here. Are you done being busy, Mrs. Fulton?” 

Elise was baffled. “What’s going on?” 

Calvin’s voice grew even colder. “Stop playing dumb since you’re already at the hospital. Room 506. Get 

over here, now.” 

With that, he dropped the call without hesitation. 

Elise knew that if she didn’t show up in person this time, the whole thing would only snowball into something worse. She took a deep breath and pulled her hospital gown tighter around herself. 

Calvin waited outside Room 506, already losing his 

patience. Just as he was about to call and rush 

Elise again, the door to the regular ward across the hall clicked open. 

A slim female figure stepped out. Her small, pale 

face was drained of color, and she was holding up 

an IV drip bag with one hand. She was so weak that 

she seemed to struggle with even that. 

A glint passed through Calvin’s eyes, and his 

expression instantly turned unreadable. “Why… are 

you here?”
