World Cup Final Eve, I Blocked My Husband and His Childhood Sweetheart Chapter 07

The police stepped forward and forcibly pulled her away.

Clara was dragged into the police car, still violently pounding against the window as she screamed.

Ethan stood several feet away, his eyes bloodshot as he watched everything unfold.

He didn’t step in to stop them. He didn’t beg for mercy on Clara’s behalf.

Only after the police car disappeared into the distance did he finally turn around and walk toward me with

heavy, exhausted steps.

“Vivian…”

His voice broke the moment he said my name.

“I never thought she would become like this. I always thought she was just spoiled. Just immature. I thought she was only having fun…”

I looked at his devastated expression without feeling the slightest bit of sympathy.

“Ethan, you didn’t fail to see it coming. You simply refused to see it.”

“You enjoyed the way she looked up to you. You enjoyed the ego boost of having two women fighting for your attention. Every time she crossed a line, you chose to let it happen. And the truth is, you never cared

about how I felt.”

Ethan buried his face in his hands and collapsed onto the ground.

“I was wrong…”

His voice trembled.

“I know I was wrong.”

“Vivian, please. Can you forgive me just this once? We can start over.”

“I swear I’ll never see her again. I’ll transfer all my company shares to you…”

He lifted his head, desperation filling his eyes.

I pulled a set of documents from my bag and held them out to him.

“Ethan, these are the court summons and the divorce agreement. I’ve already signed them. Do yourself a favor and sign as well. Don’t make me lose the last bit of respect I have for you.”

The moment Ethan saw the papers, he shot to his feet and stumbled backward.

“No.”

His voice turned frantic.

“I won’t sign!”

“I’d rather die than sign this!”

“Vivian, do you really have to take things this far? Do you really have to destroy her and destroy everything

we had?”

I stared at his furious, helpless expression and found it painfully ironic.

“You destroyed yourselves.”

I took a step closer and pushed the documents into his arms.

“I was only the person standing there watching it happen.”

Then I turned around and walked toward the elevator.

“The statutory waiting period is thirty days. After that, I’ll see you at County Court.”

The elevator doors began to close.

“If you refuse to cooperate, I’ll file for a no-fault divorce. You can’t stop the outcome.”

The doors shut completely.

I let out a slow breath.

For the first time in what felt like forever, breathing felt easy.

Three days after Clara was arrested, Miami was hit by a violent thunderstorm.

After finishing overtime at the office, I rode back to my apartment building with my new boss, Damien

Sterling.

Damien had been transferred directly from corporate headquarters after the scandal. He was now my

immediate supervisor.

He recognized my ability to handle crises and promoted me straight to regional deputy director.

The moment the car stopped downstairs, I saw Ethan standing in the rain.

He wasn’t holding an umbrella.

His entire body was soaked through.

The second he saw me step out of Damien’s car, he rushed over.

“Vivian!”

He reached for my hand, but Damien immediately stepped between us and blocked him.

Holding a large umbrella over me, Damien kept me safely at his side.

“Sir, I suggest you show some respect.”

Ethan glared at him, his eyes filled with rage and red veins.

“Who are you?”

“What right do you have to interfere in our business?”

Then he turned toward me, his voice heavy with restrained anger and jealousy.

“Vivian, is this why you insisted on divorcing me?”

“You found someone else this quickly?”

I looked at him standing in the pouring rain, completely losing control of himself.

I felt nothing.

“Ethan, do you really think women can’t survive without a man?”

“Mr. Sterling is my boss. We have nothing but a professional relationship.”

I paused before continuing.

“But even if I had moved on, you would have no right to question me.”

Ethan’s face instantly went pale.

Rainwater streamed down from his hair and into his eyes.

Yet he didn’t even dare blink.
