While He Waited in Aspen, I Married His Rival Chapter 07

He hadn’t replied to a single one.

Scrolling further up, he found that the last time he’d answered me was four months ago.

I had asked him:

“Liam, does Chloe have some sort of misunderstanding about the ranch? Maybe I could talk to her. It might be easier between women.”

He had been buried in the Aspen project proposal, frantic and exhausted. A week later, he had replied with one brief sentence.

“Ava, Chloe is different from you. She understands business. She can help me succeed.”

The words hit him like a physical blow.

In a daze, Liam wondered: How were we different? Why couldn’t we talk?

His heartbeat quickened. He kept scrolling through the messages I’d sent into the void.

I talked about new life on the ranch, wedding details, when he would be home.

His few replies were all about the project, all about Chloe.

When had he become this person?

“Liam! Come take some pictures with me!” Chloe ran over, her brilliant smile under the Aspen sun making him dizzy.

Her friend joined them, teasing, “I’ll take them! You two are a total power couple. A perfect match!”

He wanted to argue, but the words died in his throat. He let the girl snap several photos of him and Chloe together.
