When My Alpha Chose My Best Friend Chapter 08

When My Alpha Chose My Best Friend Chapter 08

“No!” Selene shrieked. She pointed at me with trembling hands:

“She’s faking it! She has to be! I didn’t do anything!”

She stumbled toward my bed in a panic, grabbing my shoulders and shaking me frantically.

“Aurora! Wake up! It wasn’t me! You can’t blame me for this!”-

Kael lost all reason. His eyes turned bloodshot, veins bulging on his forehead.

In one swift motion, his hand closed around Selene’s throat.

“How dare you!”

She clawed at his arms, but couldn’t move him.

Her face went from white to purple-she was about to die-

Only then did the Pack Healers finally pulled them apart.

Selene slumped to the floor, gasping, glaring at Kael with bitter resentment.

She’d been so close to happiness. So close to being happier than me.

But Kael had retracted all his love at once. He treated her worse than a Rogue.

She couldn’t accept it.

“Why?” She screamed through tears.

“I was your fated mate! You loved me so much! Why?”

Kael looked down at her. His eyes were colder than ice.

“You think you deserve that? Do you really think I loved you? Moon Shadow Wolves are drawn to the moonlight-not to another Shadowbeast.”

All the strength left Selene’s body. She understood.

She’d lost. Forever.

Kael no longer cared about her tears. His voice became eerily quiet.

“You know who I just ran into?”

Selene stared blankly at him.

He gave a cold smile.

“I met the wife of one of the rogue wolves who attacked Aurora. She begged me for mercy.”

“She told me that someone had paid her mate a fortune. The instructions were very clear.”

“They wanted Aurora beaten until she lost the pup… and then tortured to death using silver chains.”

Kael’s smile slowly disappeared. His eyes burned with terrifying rage.

“You told me you only wanted them to frighten Aurora. You claimed they acted on their own afterward!”

“Were those lies too?”

Selene trembled, speechless.

Kael understood everything.

Kael closed his eyes. When he opened them again, hatred blazed within them like wildfire.

“Selene! You dared lie to me?”

“I hope you’ve prepared yourself for what comes next.”

“Because I’m going to show you what hell really means.”

She crawled toward him, grabbing desperately at the hem of his clothes.

“Kael, you can’t do this to me! I’m the mother of your cub! He needs me!”

“”I lied! I lied about the Moon Binding Rite!”

“I never underwent it! I can still have more cubs! I’m still useful!”

Kael froze.

He remembered how I’d clung to his trousers, begging him-and his heart twisted again.

Slowly, he bent down and seized Selene’s chin.

“You even lied about that?”

“Fine. You should have jumped off that ledge when you had the chance-because I’ll make you wish you

had.”

Selene wailed, sobbing uncontrollably.

I didn’t see what happened next.

As I truly died, a powerful force pulled me into darkness.

My head spun. I coughed.

A desperate voice broke through:

“Healer! Healer!”

“Aurora, Aurora-it’s mom. Can you hear me?”

Warm tears dropped onto my hand.

My heart ached, but I couldn’t open my eyes. I couldn’t move.

My mother’s warm hand held mine tightly, and it made me feel warm too.

After a long time, I opened my eyes.

The first thing I saw was my mother’s tear-filled smile.

Her hair had turned noticeably gray.

The woman who had always loved dressing elegantly had become thin and exhausted.

The moment I saw her, my own tears spilled over.

Seeing my parents’ tearful but joyful faces, I felt overwhelming gratitude.

Several healers came to examine me.

“A miracle! A true miracle! She’s out of the woods now.”

After giving us instructions, they left.

I was slow to respond. Finally, I said hoarsely:

“Mother, Father… I’m back.”

Mother wiped her tears.

“Poor child. What did you go through?”

“It’s all your father’s fault-he pushed you to come back for meeting a Alpha from Ironclaw Pack, and you got caught in that Shadowbeast tide.”

“The healers said the best-case scenario was that you’ll lose your wolf forever. We received warnings over and over that you might not make it…”

Father’s eyes were red too. He cut her off.

“She’s awake. Don’t talk about bad luck. My girl’s doing just fine.”

I tried to move, but everything hurt. Mother stopped me.

“What are you doing? You’re not healed yet! You need to rest.”

I opened my mouth, my voice scratchy.

“How long… was I unconscious?”
