Two Years of Marriage, I Never Got My Wedding Ring Chapter 25

This time, even Sofia’s mother was silent.

A few minutes passed. I heard footsteps going upstairs, then coming back down.

A box was placed on a table with a soft thud.

Alessio didn’t speak right away.

After a long moment, he asked, “Why?”

Sofia’s sobs quieted.

“Because it should have been mine.”

Isabella gasped.

Sofia’s voice trembled, but her words were clear.

“Before you married Verona, everyone thought it would be me.”

“The Riccis liked me. My family thought so, too.”

“But then she showed up out of nowhere with some old marriage arrangement between our families. Why?”

Alessio’s tone turned to ice.

“It was my wedding to her.”

“But you didn’t love her!”

Sofia almost screamed the words.

“You were drunk that day. You didn’t even say her name.”

“Alessio, look at the last two years. Was I ever absent from a single Ricci family event?”

“People said I was more like the Ricci wife than she was. It wasn’t just me.”

Alessio let out a short, cold laugh.

“So you took her ring, deleted the footage, posted it on Instagram, and made everyone think I had given it to you?”

Sofia didn’t answer.

Alessio spoke.

“Sofia, don’t bother coming to the anniversary gala tomorrow.”

“You’re kicking me out for her?”

“I’m not kicking you out.”

He paused, his voice tight with suppressed rage.

“I’m putting things back where they belong.”
