Two Years of Marriage, I Never Got My Wedding Ring Chapter 22

The night Alessio went to Sofia’s house, Isabella went with him.

She had tried to stop him, to keep him from making a scene at the home of a family friend.

On the phone, she had said, her voice tight with anger, “The ZHANG family and the Ricci family have been friends for decades.”

“Are you really going to tear both families apart over a ring?”

Alessio had replied with a single sentence.

“This isn’t about a ring.”

Isabella had gone quiet.

I sat on the sofa in my apartment, the phone on speaker, listening to the confrontation unfold.

Alessio had been the one to call me.

He’d said, “You don’t have to be here, but you have a right to hear this.”

I hadn’t refused.

Soon, the sounds of Sofia’s living room filled my apartment.

Sofia was the first to speak, her voice already thick with tears.

She always managed to position herself as the victim.

“Alessio, I know you’re angry with me.”

“But you were drunk that day. I was just trying to take care of you.”

“The ring ended up on my hand because you were the one holding on to me. I didn’t force you.”

Alessio’s voice was cold.

“The video says otherwise.”

There was a soft click, and then silence.

Sofia’s mother spoke first, her tone stiff.

“Has this video been edited?”

“Sofia has always loved pretty things. What does trying on a ring prove?”

“You’re blowing this completely out of proportion, all because a young girl likes to take pictures.”

Isabella’s voice was softer, conciliatory.

“Alessio, this all happened two years ago.”

“What matters now is the anniversary gala. I’ll talk to Verona.”
