Twenty-Four Hours Later, My Betraying Alpha Crumbles Chapter 11

Twenty-Four Hours Later, My Betraying Alpha Crumbles Chapter 11

Time passed quickly.

Before I knew it, winter had arrived.

Life on South Campus was peaceful.

Every morning when I woke up, the first thing I did was check my notes app.

It held entries for my new friends, the rehab routines Kaleib had walked me through, and which

cafeteria service stations served the best meals.

Not a single trace of my former life existed anywhere within it..

I didn’t know how fiercely I had once loved an Alpha.

All I knew was that the Savannah I was now felt light and free.

Kaleib was dedicated. He not only helped me with physical rehab but also went on walks with me.

My leg still couldn’t withstand high-strain, strenuous activity, yet my gait appeared completely

unremarkable during ordinary walking.

One midday, I sat at a window-side seat in the cafeteria eating my lunch. Across from me was my

new roommate.

She was frantically scrolling through the campus forum.

“Oh my god, North Campus is blowing up again!”

Eager with gossip, she held her phone right up close in front of my face for me to see.

“You remember Gavin Reed, right? The ridiculously handsome Alpha who was top of every class and basically campus royalty back in the day?”

I shook my head.

“I can’t say I recognize him. What’s this all about?”

“Dude, he’s completely fallen off the rails!” She lowered her voice, shocked.

“Word on campus is he’s been ditching nearly all his classes for months. He lost his official Alpha ranking trial and ended up getting exiled from the whole pack.”

“What happened next?” I asked half-heartedly, with very little genuine curiosity.

“But the absolute worst thing went down last night, believe it or not.” My roommate sighed.

“He got blackout drunk and was stumbling aimlessly along an unlit side road off campus property.”

‘A speeding truck hit him.”

“He survived, but the truck’s tires rolled right across his right leg, resulting in a severe

comminuted fracture.”

“The pack healer says he’s almost certain to be left with a permanent limp for the rest of his life.”

I stopped eating.

My gaze settled steadily onto the display of her cellphone.

There was a blurry photo from the scene.

A figure lay in a pool of blood. His right leg was bent at a horrible angle.

It felt like life had come full circle, handing him the consequences he’d earned all along.

I looked at it for two seconds.

I felt nothing.

A stranger made bad choices and paid a heavy price. That was all.

“That is truly tragic, I suppose,” I said evenly. “I can’t understand what would drive someone to spiral downward and throw their whole life away like this.’

I turned my gaze away, swiped upward on my phone screen to refresh the page, and the headline sank amid the endless stream of posts.

Outside, the sun was shining. Warm light streamed through the glass onto the table.

I mentally jotted down a new line I could add to my nightly note entry later on: [The weather this day was wonderfully pleasant.]
