Maybe the last trace of concern I still had for Evan got the better of me, because I followed the location pin Ryan had sent me and rushed over.

But just as I reached the door to the private room, I heard a burst of laughter inside.

“Relax, Evan. I’ll bet ten drinks that Nina shows up.”

“When have you ever tried to break up with her without her being the first to back down and ask you to make up?”

“Just act affectionate with Chloe in front of her. She won’t be able to keep her composure.”

I pushed open the door, my face blank.

A girl with flushed cheeks was kissing Evan on the lips.

Even when he heard the door open, Evan kept his eyes open and made no attempt to pull away.

It wasn’t that I was upset.

I just found it strange.

As I passed him, Evan caught my wrist.

I pulled my wrist free and swept a cold glance around the room at everyone who had been betting on me.

I found it bitterly ironic.

“Evan, was betting on me fun?”

“Is that why you kept telling me you wanted to break up? Because you thought this was fun?”

Evan’s expression suddenly turned uncertain, and he denied it without thinking.
