The smiles on the three candidates‘ faces vanished so fast. 

Flynn was the first to bare his teeth. 

“What does she have to be mad about?” he said, stepping in 

front of Ruby. 

“We chose you. She does not own us.” 

Kael’s gaze was colder. 

“We’re here just to get our things,” he said. “Don’t even 

dream that we’ll ever come back.” 

Silas did not speak. 

He simply stood beside Ruby, silent and protective. 

Sometimes silence was worse than words. 

The soul–link channel lit up again. 

[Look at Ruby. She has not even tried, and all three candidates 

are already around her.] 

[Sloane is about to lose control and punch Ruby. Then the 

candidates will reject her right there.] 

[Finally. The vicious bitch’s good days are ending.] 

My eyes brightened. 

So if I hit Ruby, the candidates would end things themselves? 

Wonderful. 

I stepped forward and slapped Ruby in the face. 

The sound cracked through the manor entrance. 

Ruby staggered back, one hand pressed to her cheek. 

Tears filled her eyes almost instantly. 

Yet she looked satisfied. 

I looked down at her and asked, “Did Grandmother give you permission to return to Silvermoon Pack?” 

The soft little Omega act cracked for half a breath. 

Then Ruby lowered her eyes. “Sloane, are you trying to drive 

me away? I only missed home. I missed everyone.” 

“Home?” I smiled. “Interesting word.” 

Ruby had grown up beside me as my foster sister. 

She had eaten at my table, worn dresses bought with 

Silvermoon money, and called my parents hers whenever it 

suited her. 

She had also framed me so many times that my childhood felt 

like a string of locked rooms and punishments. 

The worst part was not that my parents believed her. 

It was that they wanted to. 

When Ruby’s false identity and old schemes were exposed, 

Grandmother exiled her from the pack. 

She was allowed to live comfortably. 

She was not allowed to come back without permission. 

Apparently, rules only mattered when they were used against 

1. me. 

Flynn exploded. 

“Ruby has suffered enough of you! She just wanted to see her pack, and you slap her the moment she returns? Sloane Silvermoon, how can you be this cruel?” 

The old Flynn had once followed me around the training field 

like a feral wolf pup, growling at anyone who looked at me 

wrong. 

Now his teeth were pointed at me. 

“I know you are jealous because we are protecting her, ” he 

added, his voice full of misplaced confidence. “Apologize to 

Ruby now, and I will move back in. I can pretend what 

happened earlier never happened.” 

Kael’s voice too, full of misplaced confidence. 

“You and Ruby were sisters for eighteen years,” he said. “You 

let outsiders humiliate her, and now how dare you slap her. Everything you have now should have been shared with her.” 

I turned to Silas. 

“And you?” 

Silas’s lashes lowered. 

For the first time since he arrived, he spoke. 

“Ruby is still your sister in name. She has lived away from her pack for years. You shouldn’t slap her.” 

There it was. 

The voices were right again. 

I looked at the three men I had saved, healed, housed, and 

defended. 

Then I asked, “And if I refuse?” 

Kael’s eyes sharpened. “Then we reject you. Together.” 

Flynn lifted his chin. “Yes. We reject the candidate bond. All of 

us.” 

Silas did not say the words, but his silence sat beside theirs 

like a signature. 

The soul–link voices screamed with delight. 

[Yes! The rejection scene is finally here!] 

[She deserves it. Ruby finally gets her justice.] 

[Sloane is going to panic now. She cannot lose three Alpha 

candidates at once.] 

I almost laughed. 

Candidates. 

They truly thought the Candidate name made them 

irreplaceable. 

They had forgotten whose territory they were standing in. 

They had forgotten whose money bought their medicines, whose guards protected their names, whose grandmother’s seal kept their enemies from dragging them back into the 

dark. 

Most of all, they had forgotten that I never begged them to 

stay. 

I looked at Ruby first. 

She was still crying, but her eyes were fixed on me, waiting for my collapse. 

Then I looked at the three candidates. 

“Fine, “I said. “Reject me all you want.” 

The air almost stopped. 

Flynn blinked. “What?” 

“I accept all of your rejections from the candidate bond. 

Steward.” 

The old steward stepped forward at once. “Lady Sloane.” 

“Strike Kael Nightborne, Flynn Blackwood, and Silas Greymark from the Silvermoon candidate ledger. Remove their access to the manor, the training grounds, the medical wing, the private garages, and all internal pack accounts.” 

Kael almost shifted. 

Silas finally looked up. 

Flynn went rigid. 

I continued, “Their belongings are to be sent out today. 

Anything they refuse to claim will be donated or destroyed according to pack law.” 

Ruby’s tears slowed. 

This was not the scene she expected. 

Kael took one step toward me. “Sloane, do not make a decision out of anger.” 

I tilted my head. “Did you not just reject me?” 

Flynn snapped, “We only said that because you went too far!” 

“No,” I said. “You said it because you thought I would be afraid.” 

“Afraid of you three leaving.” 

“Guess what? I am not.” 

Silas’s voice was low. “There is no need to make this 

shameful.” 

I looked at him and felt the last thin thread in my chest break. 

“Silas, shameful was sending private council advice to Ruby while sleeping under my roof.” 

His face paled. 

Flynn turned toward him. “What?” 

I looked at Flynn next. 

“Shameful was arranging border guards for an exiled Omega 

and not telling the Alpha heiress whose territory she was entering.” 

Flynn’s anger faltered. 

Finally, I turned to Kael. 

“Shameful was using northern contacts to clean Ruby’s return 

trail while pretending you had no idea she was coming.” 

Kael’s eyes went dark. 

Ruby whispered, “Sloane, why are you saying such things? They were only worried about me.” 

“Good, “I said. “Then they can continue worrying about you 

somewhere else.” 

I raised my voice. 

“Guards.” 

Silvermoon wolves appeared from both sides of the entrance hall. 

This time, the candidates did not move. 

Maybe they finally remembered that before I was the unstable woman they judged, before I was the face they compared to Ruby, before I was the convenient villain in their precious 

little story, I was Sloane Silvermoon. 

The blood heir of this pack. 

The future Alpha. 

I smiled. 

“Throw them out.”
