Rachel rushed up and dug her nails into my arm.

The usually quiet girl had a twisted, panicked look on her face.

“Did he say anything weird to you? Anything at all?”

I leaned back, calm.

“Define weird.”

Rachel was past caring-she was on the verge of tears.

Lily frowned at me with reproach.

When she heard that Parker had called me “sweetheart” and then admitted he’d made a mistake after I

denied it, her expression relaxed.

Rachel, though, was still on edge.

She pulled out her phone and started typing furiously.

Lily forced a dry laugh.

“There are people who look alike everywhere. Don’t overthink it, Sophie.”

Before anyone could say more, the student ambassador group chat called everyone for a meeting.

After a long day, I got back to the dorm to find Rachel sobbing her lungs out.

Lily explained that the academic advisor had notified Rachel that her Academic Merit Scholarship for the

semester had been revoked.

As for the reason, the advisor wouldn’t say.

I shrugged.

“Her boyfriend gives her so much money anyway. It’s just a scholarship-no big deal.”

Rachel choked through her tears.

“The advisor announced it in the class-wide email.”

And because of that announcement, rumors started spreading on Reddit and campus forums.

Some students said Rachel was a mistress to some rich old man, and his wife had found out and reported

her to the administration.

I smiled lightly.

“Money talks. Since your boyfriend’s loaded and connected, he could probably get it fixed. That’d kill the

rumors too.”

Rachel sniffled, saying she couldn’t.

I encouraged her.

“You don’t know until you try.”

She seemed tempted.

Lily rushed to stop her and pulled me aside.

She told Rachel that if she asked Parker for help, he could easily trace her name and photo, and everything would come out.

The comments were all sympathy for Lily.
