They Stole My Seven Years Chapter 03

They Stole My Seven Years Chapter 03

I touched my own body.

There was nothing.

I tried calling The System in my head several more times.

The System gave no response.

I gritted my teeth.

What kind of damned System and mission was this?

It treated me like a Host, but wouldn’t even give me an item.

I was locked inside the estate and could not see Adrian.

But I still had to find a way to complete the mission.

Because I was afraid that if I failed, The System would send someone else to take over my body again.

After thinking it over, I went to the kitchen and turned on the oven.

I was a kitchen disaster.

Anything I made looked like a crime scene.

But somehow, my cookies tasted amazing.

And Adrian had always loved sweets.

In the past, every time I made cookies, he would hold the bag like a well-fed little hamster and eat with pure happiness all over his face.

I kneaded the dough and pouted in annoyance.

Because the spectator feed had started scrolling again.

“Not many Hosts think of making cookies.”

“Right. Someone made cookies before, and the villain actually ate them.”

“Yeah, I remember the villain seemed to cry that day.”

I let out a soft snort, but my eyes stung.

The memories Adrian and I had shared were now touched by other people.

Those memories that once belonged only to us had been knives stabbing into Adrian’s heart.

Now they turned back and stabbed me too.

It hurt so badly that even my breathing trembled.

I stayed in the kitchen for the entire afternoon.

The sweet smell of cookies filled the living room.

I carefully took the tray from the oven.

The moment I turned around, my eyes met the person standing in the kitchen doorway.

For a second, I was dazed.

It was as if I had returned to a sunny afternoon from long ago.

I would take cookies from the oven, and Adrian would lean gently against the doorframe, smiling at me.

Once I set down the tray, he would clap dramatically and proudly declare that I was the best cookie maker in the world.

Then I would laugh and throw myself into his arms, demanding my reward as if it was only natural.

Adrian would always blush helplessly, but obediently take my hand and press it to his chest.

Then he would softly kiss away the cookie crumbs at the corner of my lips.

A hand reached to the counter in front of me and picked up a cookie.

I snapped back to reality, blinked away the moisture in my eyes, and stared at Adrian.

He looked at the cookie in his hand with no expression.

After a long while, he put it into his mouth and took a bite.

I took a deep breath and said softly, my voice trembling, “Adrian, you ate my cookie.”

“Where’s my reward?”

His head was lowered.

I couldn’t see his expression.

So I couldn’t help taking a few steps toward him.

But Adrian immediately stepped back, as if something had frightened him.

I froze in place.

For a moment, the kitchen, still fragrant with cookies, became terrifyingly silent.

My heart sank.

Adrian still didn’t seem to believe me.

Even though I had told myself over and over that after being deceived so many times, it was normal for Adrian not to trust me,

when the moment really came, I still couldn’t stop my tears.

Grief and disappointment pressed down on me until I almost couldn’t breathe.

I choked out, “Adrian, I’m Selena.”

“You liar.”

“You said that even if I turned into a bug, you’d still recognize me.”

He stood where he was, head lowered, motionless, with half a cookie still in his mouth.

Somehow, he looked even more wretched than I did.

I wiped away my tears and sobbed, “I don’t care.”

“You can’t lock me up like this.”

“You ate my cookie, so you owe me a reward.”

I didn’t know how long had passed before Adrian’s hoarse voice sounded.

“What do you want?”

I froze and looked up at him.
